Recent Report on Persecutions Against Falun Gong Practitioners (#12)

[Cheng-du City, Si-chuan Province] The Detention Center of Jiu-ru Village Detained Practitioners Repeatedly and Consecutively

The following practitioners have been detained consecutively by the Jiu-ru Village detention center in such a way that whenever the last detention expired, they would be taken to the local police station on the morning, and then sent back to the detention center for extended detention on the same afternoon. Or they would spend one night in the police station and be sent back to the detention center the next day. During that span of time, they were not allowed to go home to change clothes or take a bath.

1, Liu Can, female, 70, a retired headmaster of the Mailbox #6 Staff Children's School, has been detained for 10 times, including 9 times in the detention center of Jiu-ru Village and one time in the detention center of Lian-hua Village, from December 16 of 1999 until now, for having gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.

2, Yu Xue-mei, female, 51, an employee of the Recreation Park, has been detained for 10 times, among which 9 times were administrative detention in the detention center of Jiu-ru Village and one time was criminal detention in the detention center of Lian-hua Village, from December 10 of 1999 until now, for having gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She is now still wearing the winter boots.

3, Fan Hai-dong, male, 29, a college student, a family member of an employee of Mailbox #106, has been detained for 9 times, among which 8 times were administrative detentions and one time was criminal detention, from December 13 of 1999 up to now, for having gone to Beijing to appeal in December, 1999.

4, Zhong Fang-qiong, female, 35, a private self-employed driver, has been detained for 10 times, including 9 administrative detentions and one criminal detention. She got detained consecutively for 4 times from December 19 of 1999 to March 1 of 2000 after she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong for the first time. She went to Beijing to appeal again in March this year and had been detained for 5 times from March 18 to May 23 of 2000.

5, Liu Su-zhen, female, 55, a retired worker of #420 Factory; Zhang Feng-qing, female, 52, the family member of an employee of Shuang-qiao Post Office; Luo Su-hua, female, 54, a retired worker of the Metallurgical Foundry Works. These three practitioners had been detained twice consecutively between April 16 and May 13 of 2000.

6, Ma Ling, female, 46, a nurse-in-charge of the Seventh Hospital of Cheng-du City, has been detained for 5 times from February 28 of 2000 up to now, for having gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was dismissed from the Party and her post.

7, Zhang Guo-ying, female, 61, a retired official from the Institute of Science and Engineering of Cheng-du, was given one administrative detention, one criminal detention and then one year of forced-labor executed outside the Labor Camp, for having gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. From April 3 to May 16, she was detained consecutively for another 3 times. Mr. Zhang Guo-ying has reported the above illegal consecutive detentions of her to the police department of Cheng-du City.

8, Liu Xiu-wen, female, 62, a retired teacher from the University of Electronic Science; Zhou Tian-ling, female, 50, an employee of Mailbox #82. These two practitioners went to Beijing to appeal on April 23 of 2000 and were given two administrative detentions afterwards (April 28-May 12 and May 13-May 27).

9, Du Jie, female, 38, an employee of the Cheng-du Locomotive Factory, was detained for 15 days for having gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on December 6 of 1999. On April 4 of 2000 when she was working at the factory, she was coaxed by the security division of the Factory to the Er-xian-qiao Police Station and got detained for 3 times consecutively afterwards from April 4 to May 16 for no reason. She was not allowed to go home during these consecutive 45 days.

10, Li Xue-zhen, female, 62, a retired employee of the City Department Store; Lai Ding-zhang, male, 66, the husband of Ms. Li Xue-zhen, a retired employee of the Mailbox #6; Xu Hua, female, 40, a retired worker of the Mailbox #82; Ni Feng-ying, female, 50, a retired employee of Mailbox #107.

On March 10 of 2000, the couple of Ms. Li Xue-zhen's younger sister came to visit them. 3 other fellow practitioners including Xu Hua and Ni Feng-ying also happened to visit Ms. Li after learning that Ms. Li was experiencing some tribulations on her body. Right after they sat down, the police showed up and abducted Ms. Li, her husband, Xu Hua and Ni Feng-ying. Later, they got detained for 5 times consecutively from March 10 to May 22. Their homes were ransacked twice.

11, Huang Xiu-qing, female, 63, was detained for 4 times consecutively.

In addition, two other senior practitioners, Jiang Shan, female, 75, a retired high-ranking official of the University of Electronic Science, a Party member who embarked on the revolution in 1945, and Li Hui-rong, female, 72, a retired high-ranking official of the University of Electronic Science, a Party member who joined the revolution in 1948, got detained for 15 days in the detention center of Jiu-ru Village from May 5 to May 19 of 2000, for having gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.

Ms. Li Yin-xiang, her husband, Luo Ming-pu, Liu Tao, Chen Ming-yong and some other practitioners have been long detained in a transitory jail located on the Ning-xia Street of Cheng-du City.
