In the evening, people saw the two practitioners who had just been tortured. They were two college students, one male and one female. There were big blisters on their arms and legs. These two college students were taken to the labor camp on that day. As soon as they arrived, the police tortured them with electric batons to force them to renounce their beliefs. But the young man and woman endured the tortures and did not write the repentances. Practitioners were all moved to tears.á In early August, a teenager girl of 15 years old was called out to be interrogated at 2pm. She was not sent back until 6pm. During the afternoon, people could hear her screaming miserably. The sufferings of the continuous electric shocks were unimaginable to those who had no such experience. When she came back, we found that she had bruises all over her arms and legs. The girl told us that when the police officer forced her to give up her belief in Falun Dafa by shocking her with electric baton, she said, "I am still a minor, and am protected by the Law for the Protection of Minors. You should not use the electric baton to shock me. You are violating the law knowingly." However, the police officer did not stop torturing her. She cried and asked the police officer, "Do you also use the electric baton to shock your own children?" However, her words could not touch the police officer at all.á In that afternoon, the police tortured her three times using two electric batons. This girl could not let her arms down until one hour later. The courageous girl endured the torture with strong will, and did not give in to the evil.á On the next day, the girl felt extreme pain in her bruised legs and could hardly walk. She had a fever and kept vomiting.á Her heart felt very weak, and she had spasms frequently. To protest the inhumane treatments, practitioners started a hunger strike. On the sixth day of their hunger strike, the officials of the labor camp agreed to stop using electric batons to torture practitioners. However, after everything became normal, one practitioner was sentenced with forced-labor for "bad behavior". It was said that 19 more practitioners would be sentenced with forced-labor.á When the news was posted, some practitioners had been on hunger strike for 12 days to protest the injustice against them. Some practitioners had fainted. We are deeply worried about their lives. (August 24, 2000) á [China] Chinese Police Kidnapped Practitioners and Demanded Ransom On the early morning of July 18, 2000, a practitioner in a city of China was kidnapped by the police. Later, he was told that the higher authorities ordered the large scale arrests of practitioners in order to prevent them from going to Beijing to appeal.á The practitioner strongly protested the illegal arrest. But the police sent him to the detention center and detained him for one month. After he finished serving the detention term, the police demanded the practitioner's family to pay 10,000 Yuan ransom for his release.á á [Chongqing] Practitioners would be sent to labor camp if they could not be transformed in the "re-education" class Since the Committee of Politics and Law of Chongqing City plotted a new round of persecution against local practitioners, all the workplaces and street offices had been assigned a list of practitioners (or quota) to be "re-educated". Starting from August 17, 2000, the working staff of the "re-education classes" in all districts of Chongqing City started to visit practitioners at home in order to transform them. Many practitioners were had to leave their homes and ran away from the harassments. The Shapingba District and Yuzhong District held meetings on August 21 and August 23 respectively. It was announced in both meetings that practitioners who could not be transformed would be sent to labor camp. The practitioners who ran away from their homes should be caught back by their workplaces or street offices. The 20 practitioners from the Construction Cooperation of the Jiulongpo District are being detained in the underground bomb-shelter for "re-education". Practitioners Zhang Jidong and Chen Xin from the Southwest Motor Plant of Chongqing City were not allowed to go home after they were taken away by their workplace. Two practitioners from Banan District, Pi Tianfeng and Ni Zhengfang, were required to turn in 20 Yuan per day for the "re-education" fee. The length of the "re-education" class was temporarily scheduled to be two months. Over twenty practitioners including Jiang Junlan, Chen Guoxue and Tang Kelu were forced to attend a "re-education" class which was to last for 3 months. Each of them was required to pay 300 Yuan as the "re-education" fee.á Some practitioners from Dadukou district have left their homes to avoid persecutions. Some related departments and workplaces had to search for them, for fear of not being able to meet the quota assigned by higher authorities.á
