Activity Report: Hong Kong Practitioners Launched A Peaceful Parade to Appeal to All Kind-Hearted People About the Persecution of Falun Gong

Sept. 8, 2000 |   Hong Kong Practitioners

The brutal persecution of Falun Gong conspired by a few leaders in the Chinese Central Government has been unrelenting and escalating. So far, there have been more than fifty Falun Gong practitioners persecuted to death. In light of the above facts, Hong Kong practitioners held a peaceful appealing parade on September 2, 2000 to tell the truth to the public about the brutal suppression of Falun Gong and in the meantime to call for the support of more kind-hearted people all over the world.

About 160 practitioners started the parade in the Xiaque Park at 3:00PM. In the front of the parade, two young practitioners held a name list of the practitioners who were persecuted to death, followed by the photos or names of these practitioners. Many banners are displayed, such as "50 Falun Gong practitioners were persecuted to death", "Stop suppression of Falun Gong; Clarify the truth of Falun Gong by a peaceful dialogue", and "Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance)". They peacefully paraded to the Chinese governments Liaison Office (former Beijing's representative office in Hong Kong). Walking along the crowded streets, pedestrians were moved by the parade, and their kind nature was awakened.

After arriving at the Liaison Office at 4:00PM, the representatives of the practitioners delivered an open letter to the Chinese government leaders by leaving the letter in the front of the closed gate. The letter appealed again that the Chinese government should immediately stop its persecution of Falun Gong and start a peaceful dialogue to resolve the issue. The practitioners left after demonstrating the exercises.
