May 17, 2001

[Minghui Net] Recently eighteen Australian, Falun Gong practitioners, including a three-and-half-year-old boy were denied entrance at Hong Kong's customs. On May 9, 2001 they were forcefully repatriated. On returning home, May 10, four practitioners went to the Department of Foreign Affairs in Canberra, Australia. They met with Dr. Mark Napier, the officer in charge of Chinese affairs. The practitioners give him an account of their experiences in the Office of Departure and Entrance in Hong Kong, which included a detention of over 30 hours without any freedom and that they were also treated disrespectfully, during this period. Dr. Mark Napier said that he would investigate this matter. Later on in the afternoon, upon hearing the news, a reporter from an Australian newspaper went to Capital Hill and interviewed the practitioners who were denied entrance into Hong Kong.
