Germany: Falun Gong Practitioners Invited to the Foreign Office

Jan. 18, 2002 |   By a Falun Dafa Practitioner

On January 9th, 2002, three Falun Gong practitioners were invited for a dialogue with representatives from the Human Rights Department in the Foreign Office. The three German citizens had been arrested on November 20th, 2001 at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. This was their third meeting with various representatives of the Foreign Office. This time they had an opportunity to relate their experiences while in Chinese custody and to point out the unjustified and physically rough treatment methods toward them at the hands of the Chinese security forces.

The representatives listened attentively to the practitioners' reports and asked questions about the exact sequence of events. They were particularly interested in the first hand accounts of mistreatment of the German practitioners at the hands of Chinese police authorities and the breach of international agreements regarding consular representation.

At the end of the one and a half hour dialogue, the practitioners submitted letters of complaint from those arrested on November 20th. The letters describe the lawless mistreatment and urge the German government to take all suitable steps of protest against the Government of the People's Republic of China.
