The Persecution Experienced by a Government Official Over the Past Two Years

Feb. 23, 2002

(Clearwisdom.net) I'm an ordinary Chinese government official. I would like to share some of my personal experiences in order to illustrate to you what it's actually like during this so-called "best human rights period in China," according to Jiang's criminal regime.

Simply because I practice Falun Dafa, starting from April 25th, 1999, the police department and the government unit that I work for assigned people to follow and monitor me at all times. Since then, the persecution has continued to escalate, becoming even more severe on certain "sensitive" days such as April 25th, May 13th, July 20th, [the day of the Zhongnanhai Appeal, Master's birthday, and the day when the persecution started, respectively] and all holidays. Over a dozen government units and dozens of individuals were involved in the persecution towards me. I was illegally detained on four separate occasions for a total of 86 days. In addition, my home was searched ten times, I was fined a total of over 8,000 Yuan [about US$1,000, an average city person's annual income in China is about 5,000 Yuan] by my work unit. My monthly salary was reduced by 110 Yuan and I was denied a raise in my salary twice. The police department, the "610 Office" [ specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches], my work unit and the residential committee of my living area worked together to assign people to monitor me. My work unit was responsible for the daytime and the security unit of my living area was responsible for the evenings. I had to get approval from the police department, the "610 Office" and my work unit if I wanted to leave the city I live in; otherwise it was deemed to be breaking the security rules and the law.

During the period of July through September of 2001, every single employee in my work unit had to write a statement slandering Falun Gong. Anyone who didn't write such a statement would be viewed as an anti-ruling party and anti-government individual. I firmly refused to write such a statement, and was publicly criticized at a special meeting with more than a couple hundred attendees. My work unit also organized a special meeting to criticize me, where nine people slandered Dafa and criticized me, while my request to speak at the meeting was denied. After the meeting, my work unit organized more than a dozen people to sign a request to expel me from work and then sent a report to the higher-level government.

Before this year's Chinese New Year, the police department, the "610 Office" and my work unit sent over a dozen people to threaten me and they even came to my home to disturb me. On January 25th, the head of the discipline section of my work unit talked to me, telling me not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong during the holidays. On February 1st, Liang, a deputy head from my work unit told me, in front of others, that I had to get his personal permission to leave the city during the holidays. On February 5th, my boss called me into his office, where six officers from the police department and the "610 Office" were present. The officers from the "610 Office" tried to force me to write a statement guaranteeing that I would not participate in any Falun Gong activities during the holidays, and an officer from the police department threatened me by saying, "We can arrest and sentence you to jail for at least several years. So you'd better not participate in any Falun Gong activities." On the night of February 8th, seven officers from the city police department and the "610 Office" came to my home to tell me that I should not appeal for Falun Gong or distribute any Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials during the holidays, and warned me that there would be "severe consequences" if I did not follow their order. On February 10th and 11th, an official named Chen called me twice at home and came to my home twice. He said that Lin, a deputy head from my work unit, sent him to follow and monitor me.

The above are just some of my personal experiences as it is too difficult to list all of the persecution I have suffered since there is just too much. These facts clarify to everyone that Jiang's statement that we are in the "best human rights period" is a pure lie.
