Early in the morning of May 21, twelve 5-meter-long white banners with red letters reading "Celebrate the 10^th Anniversary of the Introduction of Falun Dafa to the Public," were fluttering in the wind. The banners, hung over the vital traffic lines in Xi'an City, shocked the evil persecutors and manifested the unyielding spirit of Falun Dafa disciples in face of vicious persecution.

Wang Lin is an employee of the Jiutai Medicine Corporation Ltd. Around nine o'clock on the morning of May 17, 2002, several policemen followed him on his way to work. After he arrived at his work unit, he was forcefully abducted while parking his motorcycle. He didn't cooperate during the illegal capture and hence was subjected to severe beating. The police first took him to the Security Division of his work unit where they did a thorough body search and examined his tool case. Then they forcibly put him into the police car. At this time, Wang Lin was again beaten up. The police also confiscated his motorcycle. Currently Wang Lin is being detained in the No.2 Detention Center in Jinzhou City. He has been on a hunger and water strike for over 5 days, protesting the illegal detention. We hope that our fellow practitioners send forth righteous thoughts to eradicate the evils and rescue him after reading this news.

Around 12 o'clock on the evening of April 16, 2002, the governor of Sunji Town of Shouguang City, Shandong Province, led 28 people to surround Falun Gong practitioner Gao Shiquan's house. They tied Gao Shiquan's and his wife's hands behind their backs with a rope that they then looped round their necks. (Gao Shiquan, 38 years old. His wife Hou Junxiang, 39 years old.) Then the married couple was forcibly sent to the brainwashing class held by the local "610 Office". In this town, the "610 Office" and the policemen from the Criminal Team of the Police Department search for Falun Gong practitioners every evening according to a name list they compiled. If they do not find the practitioner on the name list, they will ransack his home instead.

Li Ruimin, the former section director of the Police Department in Zhuhai area, Guangzhou City, has participated in investigating and scheming to suppress Falun Gong since 1995. After July 20, 1999 he has been leading and directly participating in persecuting Falun Dafa and Falun Dafa practitioners. Because of his "efforts" in 2001, he was promoted and put in charge of the vicious "Law Learning Class" (brainwashing class) in the Zhuhai area. There are no laws in the brainwashing class, other than the ones Li Ruimin makes. He often says, "We don't need the law. We do everything according to the spirit of the directives given by the authorities." He can come up with a scheme for persecuting Falun Dafa disciples at will.

Falun Gong practitioners who are illegally detained in the brainwashing class do not have any personal freedom. The police instruct unemployed people or young peasants to watch over Falun Gong practitioners 24 hours a day. Falun Gong practitioners are not allowed to study the Fa or practice the exercises; they are not allowed to contact one another; their family members are not allowed to visit them. They are forced to watch videos defaming Falun Dafa, subjected to evil propaganda from noisy loudspeakers, they are suffering brainwashing from the former Falun Dafa practitioners [turned away from their belief to intense pressure and torture and recruited to persecute true practitioners] and from a few scoundrels in scientific circles. Falun Gong practitioner Liu Shaobo was persecuted to death here. Wang Qingmei (female) almost died of the brutal force-feeding. Some practitioners have been detained for over a year in the brainwashing class because they won't give in to the evil.

Currently, instructions from the Jiang & Luo Criminal Group are being spread among the security systems of every work unit in Guangdong Province. Money is used to motivate the security guards into committing crimes: 3000 yuan is to be awarded for the capture of each Falun Gong practitioner. Some security guards with a sense of conscience and justice expressed that they will not earn this kind of money and are not willing to face retribution. However, some are still bent solely on profit.

Not long ago, in a university in Guangdong Province, a document from authorities was transmitted saying that because Falun Gong is becoming increasingly more "active" with the support from the international "Anti-Sino" forces, their "infiltration" to Mainland China has became a very serious issue. Party members and cadres should strengthen their resistance to this "infiltration" through political studies and so on. This university has many alumni outside China who are practicing Falun Gong. Some of them have even been named and criticized publically by certain mouthpieces of the central authorities.

Recently, university leaders have spoken to every person going abroad, asking them to promise "not to make any contact with Falun Gong". Some teachers feel uneasy about this.
