(Clearwisdom.net) Agency France Press reported September 8th from Beijing that Chinese media reported typhoon Sinlaku hit eastern China and caused at least 20 deaths so far, including 15 deaths in Wenzhou city and 5 deaths in Taizhou, both in Zhejiang province. In order to reduce the death toll, over 300,000 people have been evacuated.

Local government officials said that after typhoon Sinlaku landed Saturday night. Wenzhou reported that 15 people died, 3 were still missing and other 40 people injured during the night. Many electric power and phone cables were broken by the typhoon.

Though Sinlaku didn't claimed any lives in Fuding County Fujian province, it brought about 1 billion Yuan (125 million U.S. Dollars) loss to its economy. The loss mainly came from agriculture and aquatic breeds. Another area Xiapu in Fujian province also reported large economy loss of nearly 560 million Yuan.

It was reported that before the typhoon arrived, over 300,000 people were moved to safe places and many airline flights were cancelled because of bad weather.

A weather expert in Wenzhou city says the typhoon is weakening to a tropical storm and it continues the path to Jiangxi province.

Flood control officials said the typhoon brought storm showers to Shanghai City and the water level of Huangpu River reached a new high record of this year.
