Women Tortured in Ankang City Jail Hospital, Shan'xi Province: Practitioners Zhang Jinlan, Liu Aiying, and Sun Yuncheng

Jan. 14, 2003

(Clearwisdom.net) Zhang Jinlan, 53, was illegally sentenced to a forced labor camp for one year in 2000 for going to Beijing to appeal. In the forced labor camp, she refused to accept requests from the evil forces, and never yielded. In December 2001, she was released. After going home, she borrowed some money for traveling and went to Beijing for a second time, but was escorted back home. She was sentenced to another year in a forced labor camp, but the camp would not accept her. The women's detention center transferred her to another local detention center. She was shackled for 5 months. Both of her feet were festered, covered with running pus and blood. Police also forced her to tend to a prisoner on death row. Later she was sent to a brainwashing session organized by the "610 Office" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] of Xian City, but her belief in Falun Dafa could not be shaken by any means.

Zhang Jinlan is a woman from the country, and has only had two year's of formal education. Due her righteous thoughts and determination to practice Falun Dafa, she was released from the brainwashing class. But later she was sent to the Jail's Hospital in Ankang City, Shanxi Province that is operated by the public security bureau. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. A police doctor injected her with an unknown drug that quickly caused her whole body to paralyze, and she went unconscious.

The cold-hearted police injected her in this way for seven days. Nobody was on site to nurse her. In the first days of these injections her lower body started to fester. After seven or eight days of these injections, she looked like she was dying, only then did the hospital send a "critical situation notice" to her family, and she was taken home. Now she is paralyzed, lying in bed and cannot recognize people. Her lower body is festering. The scene is too horrible to look at. Even so, her home is still under "610 Office" surveillance and her family phone is tapped.

Liu Aiying was sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp for going to Beijing to appeal in July 1999. In the camp, she did not yield to the pressures and was sent to a brainwashing class for 5 months and was abused there. Liu was released from the brainwashing class because of her strong righteous thoughts. In order to let more people know the truth of Falun Dafa, she placed "Falun Dafa is good," "Falun Dafa is righteous," and "Life needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" posters on the streets, but was illegally arrested by policemen. When she was pushed into a police car, she shouted to the people on the streets: Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good. The people around her commented on the issue and were surprised that Falun Gong practitioners are still being persecuted.

After being illegally detained, she went on a hunger strike. Police coerced criminals to force-feed her three to four times a day. Her lips were stretched to the point of injury; the two sides of the bridge of her nose were totally ruined by pinching. Criminals covered her face with a towel, then stood on, or banged her head against a wall by holding her hair, which caused her head to swell dramatically. They stood on top of her, causing both her arms to bruise, and breaking several ribs. Standing on her lower body caused her to urinate blood. The inside of her thighs were pinched to the point that they were covered with dark bruises. Her face was covered with bruises and swollen grotesquely. Tortured as she was, she also suffered from feeding tubes being inserted into her stomach. To resist being force-fed, she broke a thick tube with her teeth, After nine days of torture, she was sent to the Jail Hospital in Ankang City, Shanxi Province which is operated by the public security bureau (euphemism for police). Police doctors bound her to a bed for over a dozen hours every day, and injected her with an unknown drug. Even using the toilet was prohibited, leaving her no choice but to wet the bed. In the cold of winter, the window was left open and feeding tubes were frequently inserted into her stomach through her mouth. After over a dozen days of this torture, she vomited blood. Only then did the hospital inform her family of the critical situation, and she went home. At home, she felt very weak and pain filled her body; she vomited bile. She could only lie in bed unable to move an inch.

Sun Yuncheng is an employee of a satellite-tracking center. In December 2000, she was illegally sentenced to one and half years for going to Beijing to appeal, and was released in June 2002. During her detention, her husband (a deputy divisional level officer) was forced to quit his military job and under pressure, was led to divorce her. She lost her family, her job, her apartment, and became a homeless person. On September 12, 2002, police from the Beilin Police Station illegally searched Dafa practitioner Wang Xiuying's home. Sun Yuncheng was temporarily staying at Wang's home; she carried with her 41,700 Yuan in cash [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan], which was her share of family property when she divorced and another 1,700 Yuan in pocket money. Since she did not carry her ID, police took all of her money away under the pretext that she did not have an ID and that the money was for Falun Gong activities.

Police from the Beilin Police Station illegally arrested her, and interrogated her for two days and nights while her hands were cuffed in a style in which one of her hands was pulled over her shoulder to her back and the other one pulled from the waist to her back and then cuffed together. The handcuffs cut into her flesh and broke her skin. Later her hands were hung up over her head and she was forced to squat down for over ten hours. At the same time, police used sticks to twist her arms. She did not say anything. Running out of ways to torture her, police simply illegally detained her.

To protest and resist the persecution against her, she went on a hunger strike, and was sent to the Jail Hospital in Ankang City where she still kept up the hunger strike. Police doctors tortured her in various ways and injected unknown drugs into her system. Since she did not want to allow the injections she shouted "Falun Dafa is good" and the police slapped her face. Each time before she was injected, she was bound to a bed for about ten hours, which occasionally caused her hands to bruise. She managed to throw off the bindings a few times and broke the injection tubes. Some times Dafa practitioners were left to sleep on a bare bed with no quilts or sheets and were not allowed to use the toilet, leaving urine on the inside of their trousers or on the bed. During her hunger strike, she frequently vomited yellow fluids, and her urine was a red color. Some nights, it was impossible for her to go to sleep. Even in such a situation, she was force-fed and her stomach was in extreme pain. Since she did not cooperate with those cold-hearted police, it was very hard to insert a stomach tube into her mouth. But the jail police never cared about her life; they would forcibly insert the tube into her mouth. Sometimes the tube was inserted to her windpipe. Almost every time, her nose or mouth would bleed because of the tube insertion. Once the police failed to insert the tube into her mouth after over ten tries, the angry head nurse Liu Qi strongly hit Sun in her mouth. Sun refused to take any medicine, and persisted on practicing Falun Gong and send forth righteous thoughts. Running out of ideas, the police had to call her family to bring her home. But she has no legal address and is still homeless.
