(Clearwisdom.net) The movie "False Fire: China's Tragic New Standard in State Deception" which analyzes the 2001 Tiananmen Square "self-immolation" incident, won a Certificate of Honorable Mention at the 51st Columbus International Film & Video Festival. New Tang Dynasty TV, a non-profit privately owned Chinese TV station, produced the movie. The award ceremony was held in the Kansas Center, Columbus Arts College, Columbus, Ohio.

On January 23, 2001 a few people set themselves on fire on Tiananmen Square, Beijing. One woman died on site, others were severely burned, including a young girl. The Chinese official media immediately reported this case and alleged those people were Falun Gong practitioners. Next, the Chinese Government propagandized the case widely all over the world aiming to instigate people's hatred toward Falun Gong.

But when people watched the propaganda program from CCTV, they found many suspicious places. In the "False Fire" movie, NTD TV station, whose aim is to uphold justice and support human rights, systematically analyzed these suspicious places. The analysis exposed that the so-called self-immolation case was very likely directed by the Chinese government to frame Falun Gong and to fabricate excuses for the persecution of Falun Gong.

The famous Columbus International Film & Video Festival has 52 years of history. It focuses on social issues, education, and humanity. This year, over 200 media and independent directors from America, Canada, Europe, India and other countries submitted more than 600 movies. A movie showing the torture of American prisoners of war in Nazi prisons during World War II won the grand prize: the Chris Award. Another Movie from NTD TV, "Lily Ye's Legend", which talked about a Chinese artist who used public art to improve an African American community in the United States, won the bronze plaque.
