In 2001, police in the security section of the Lunan Police Branch illegally detained a Falun Gong practitioner. They ignored the family's repeated requests for the practicioner to be released, and detained him for a long time. One day in 2002, the practitioner's relative overheard policeman Du talking on the phone. Someone on the other end of the phone reported that they had beaten a Falun Gong practitioner to death and asked about how to handle the case. Policeman Du promptly replied, "Beating to death is no problem, it can be counted as suicide."

Tangshan's Metalworks Corporation still illegally confiscates Falun Gong practitioners' identification cards, some for as long as two years. This causes severe trouble in the practitioners' daily lives. This order was said to be from the Party Secretary of the corporation. Some practitioners have realized that they should get their belongings back and not tolerate the evil's persecution.

Mr. Liu Shaogeng, 38, worked at Kailuan Mine. At around 6 p.m. on May 22, 2003 more than a dozen police from the first section of the Tangshan City Police Department and the Security Office of the Kailuan Mine surrounded Liu's house. They arrested Liu and confiscated his property, including two computers and accessories. We do not know Liu's whereabouts.

Ms. Li Linong was a teacher at the Tuhe Thermal Power Plant Elementary School. On the afternoon of May 3, 2003 police arrested her while she was distributing Dafa materials in a market. We do not know her whereabouts.

We do not know the current situation of the following practitioners who were arrested by the police: Nie Feiyue and his wife, Ms. Li Yuming, Ms. Tang Hongyan, Ms. Zhou Ande, and Ms. Liang Ziyu, 62 years old, who worked at the Hengyang Valve Factory.

In March of 2003, the police illegally arrested Huang Shufen and tortured her in the Laoliangcang Police Station, which is in the Ningxiang County Detention Center. They brutally beat her, cuffed her hands behind her back with one hand over the shoulder and the other hand against the lower back, and then hung her up for 4 hours. She shouted loudly, "Falun Dafa is good! The evil is persecuting Dafa practitioners!" The police then stuffed dirty socks into her mouth. At the beginning of May, Huang Shufen escaped using righteous thoughts. She has not left home to avoid the persecution.

At around 11 p.m. on May 28, 2003, the police from the "610 Office"* of Mawangxiang Police Station broke into Li Wenlong's home and illegally arrested him. They also confiscated his Dafa books, Teacher's picture, and Dafa materials, including more than a dozen VCDs. Li's wife has already been sent to a forced labor camp for persisting in practicing Falun Gong. Now they are forced to leave a son who is in high school at home alone.

Li Wenlong is currently being illegally held at the Huayan Detention Center. He was arrested in 2000 when he went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to validate Dafa, and was illegally sent to a forced labor camp for two years. He was released in January 2003. His wife Liu Ping was arrested twice, in 2001 and 2002. She is now being detained at the Maojiashan Forced Labor Camp.

In the evening of May 28, 2003, the police also arrested practitioner Zhong Zhiling from home at Cuilou in Dadukou District.

Qin Chuan, the head of the "610 Office" in Mawangxiang Police Station, is responsible for the persecution.

* The "610 Office" is a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.

At around 11 a.m. on June 4, 2003, personnel from the Suining "610 Office" illegally arrested practitioner Liu Pingying from home. At around 10 a.m. on June 5, 2003, they illegally arrested practitioners Feng Bingyuan and his wife Wang Taiying from their home.

Huang Yong, the head of "610 Office," is responsible for this persecution.
