Mr. Wang Zhiming was one of my colleagues when I worked with the China Garments Group Company. His co-workers told me of the persecution he suffered, after I was released from a forced labor camp. Nobody had known what had happened to him before I left China for France on March 20, 2003. Therefore, I was shocked when I read the news, "Dafa Practitioner Mr. Wang Zhiming, Former Translator from the China Garments Group Company, Died as a Result of Police Persecution in Shanxi Province."

Wang Zhiming was a Falun Gong practitioner who practiced with the Tuanjiehu practice site, Chaoyang District, Beijing. He worked in the Import and Export Division of the China Garments Group Company. Mr. Wang was upright, kind, and sincere. Being responsible in his work and being a key staff member, he was held in high regard by his colleagues. One of his colleagues said that he was very concerned about Zhiming's situation and that he missed the days when they were working together. All of Wang Zhiming's colleagues were shocked when they learned that he had died as a result of police persecution. One leader said, "Such a young and good person, it is a pity!"

Since July 20, 1999, the police illegally detained and beat Wang Zhiming on several occasions because he went to appeal for Dafa at the National Appeals Office, and openly practiced the Falun Gong exercises at Tiananmen Square and in other public locations. Later, his work unit forcefully sent him to a brainwashing center. In July 2001, he was forced to leave his home in order to avoid further persecution.

According to sources, the police in Shanxi Province were afraid of taking responsibility for the death of Mr. Wang, so they notified his family members to come take him home. When Wang Zhiming's elder brother and his co-workers went to Shanxi, they found that Mr. Wang was already in a precarious condition as a result of torture and abuse. He was too weak to hold up his head when his brother carried him. It was too late to save his life.
