Exposing the Lies Published About Practitioner Xu Chuanli in the "Laiwu Daily"

Sept. 15, 2003

(Clearwisdom.net)

Reporter Guo Zhaoxu, correspondents Liu Xiushan, Zhang Zuokui and Cui Xin wrote false propaganda about Xu Chuanli in the second edition of the 3563rd issue of Laiwu Daily. The Laiwu District Government even copied and enlarged the article and posted it on the propaganda bulletin board outside the building entrance.

Xu Chuanli was an employee at the Laiwu Machinery Factory of the Shandong Province Coal Mine. The propaganda stated: "Xu Chuanli did not take care of his family because of his practice of Falun Gong. He disrupted family members' rest, made relationships with family members stressful and nerve-racking, as well as disrupting his regular job." There was not a single fact of any sort in the propaganda to substantiate the allegations. The facts are:

According to his co-workers, Xu Chuanli was widely regarded as a good worker and good person. He had never let Falun Gong affect his family and work. As a matter of fact, he became more diligent at work, more at peace with people, and less concerned about personal gain. In order to make it convenient for all factory workers, he volunteered to maintain the work unit's shower and bathing facility, and provided a drinking water dispensing service to workers, even though the factory had been losing money during several attempts by others. After he worked hard for a while and it still remained unprofitable, the factory subsidized his operation by offering a few cents for each bottle of drinking water sold.

After the persecution of Falun Gong started, Xu's wife became extremely hostile towards Falun Gong under the deception and coercion of the state media. She tried to force Xu to give up his Falun Gong practice, and she even burned several Dafa books. She became cold towards Xu, and often cursed and hit him. Often Xu was forced to leave home and sleep in the boiler room. He silently endured under the persistent threats of his wife.

The false report stated: "The factory management and concerned organizations treated the task of the educational transformation (Editor's note: a euphemism for "brainwashing") of Xu Chuanli as their top priority political mission. They persuaded Xu patiently and with earnest words." In fact, this was a blatant violation of a citizen's freedom of belief. Later, the propaganda stated, "Xu suddenly realized and gave up his practice of Falun Gong after a period of intense emotional pondering. In order to make his life and career more fulfilling and rewarding, the factory management decided to transfer him to the welding section and assigned him the job of painting."

The facts are:

The so-called "concerned organizations" referred to in the propaganda were in fact the "610" office [the "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] and the Public Security Bureau. The "Judiciary Educational and Training Class" was just a dressed up name for the infamous brainwashing class.

Before the spring of 2001, on or around March 7, the Laiwu Machinery Factory of the Shandong Coal Mine conspired with the Public Security Bureau and abducted Xu Chuanli. They detained and brainwashed Xu at the old Tieche Township government office courtyard located in the hillside of East Laiwu City.

The "Judiciary Educational and Training" included mandatory watching of anti Falun Gong video recordings. The head of the Laicheng District Political and Judiciary Committee (a "610" office in disguise) was Liu Min. She was trained at Jinan City in Shandong Province. Her job was to organize brainwashing classes, defame Dafa and the founder of Falun Gong. She usually started with a friendly face, but her ferocious nature would be revealed the second she could not reach her objective.

There were also collaborators (former Dafa practitioners who have turned against Dafa under pressure) and instructors who would constantly circle Falun Gong practitioners, bombarding them with lies. They would not allow practitioners a single moment of rest in their thoughts. They even threatened Dafa practitioners that they would be sent to forced labor if they were not "transformed!"

After more than ten days of forced brainwashing, against his real wish and under coercion, Xu Chuanli indicated that he would give up Dafa practice. He was then let go and returned home. Later, Xu felt that he was wrong to abandon Dafa, and decided to remain steadfast to Dafa no matter what kind pressure was applied by the factory management. He openly told the facts about the persecution of Dafa at work.

In the fall of 2001, they again abducted Xu to the Wang Village Brainwashing Class in Zibo City. Xu could not endure after forty days of brutal brainwashing sessions and again said that he would give up Dafa under the coercion.

To ensure that this time Xu would not change his mind and to solidify their "transformation result," the factory arranged for him to work on the most difficult and dirty jobs after he was released and returned home. They did not want Xu to have a single moment of rest. Yet Xu did not have any complaint, and still worked diligently.

The propaganda had the following description about Xu: "He would report to work early and leave work late each day. To him it became a common occurrence to work overtime day or night. When he learned that his work section took on the job of sand blasting, he volunteered to take on the job. Sand blasting is a dirty and hard job, but Xu did not care and he overcame significant hardship, did not fuss about time, working conditions or compensation. He just works quietly with a strong sense of job ownership and career responsibility." They claimed that Xu became such a model worker after he gave up practicing Falun Gong.

In fact, the propaganda did not mention a single word that Xu was a far more outstanding worker during the period when he practiced Falun Gong and adhered to the principle of how to be a good person. His dedication at putting this to practice was well recognized by all workers at the factory.

The purpose of this article is to expose the lies and tell those who write these kinds of articles: The Jiang regime had always lied about Falun Gong in order to incite people to hate and fight with each other. That is how they can reach their objective of persecution. As news media professionals, you are the holders of truth in this society and it is your duty to speak out for the people. Please ask yourself, where are your professional ethics and conscience when you write such lies to deceive people?
