Starting in September 2003, a postcard signing effort to support the theme, "Public Trial of Jiang, Rescue Our Family Members" began in Ottawa, Canada's capital, Canada's industrial and commerce center Toronto, as well as many other major Canadian cities such as Montreal, Vancouver, Hamilton, Calgary, Prince Edward Island, etc.

The first week, the result of the postcard signing activity was overwhelming. At the University of Toronto, staff and students signed more than 1,500 postcards in just two days. 1,000 postcards were signed at McMaster University in Hamilton. People on the campus of York University not only signed all available 500 postcards, 53 of them even applied to join the Falun Gong practice club. In front of the city government and the provincial government, people were very patient, one after another, waiting for others to finish signing. The 30,000 postcards printed in the first week ran out quickly. Practitioners in Toronto rushed another 20,000 through the printer.

Two bits of encouraging news came within the first week of the postcard signing activity: One is that the mother of practitioner Li Bo (whose name was printed on the postcard), Ms Lu Xiuzhen, was released ahead of schedule from the infamous Masanjia Labor Camp. The other good news was that the lawsuit against Jiang preparation in Canada had major breakthroughs, as several prominent human rights lawyers and law firms expressed their willingness to work with practitioners to bring Jiang to justice.

All the signed postcards are being mailed to the office of the Canadian Prime Minister. The short message on the postcard states that Jiang and his accomplices who participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioner have been charged with genocide. It asks the Canadian Prime Minister to appeal to the Chinese government to stop persecuting Falun Gong and unconditionally release all detained Falun Gong practitioners when he visits China in late October.

Before his visit to China, Canadian practitioners will also initiate a series of activities to clarify the truth in addition to the postcard signing. This includes large-scale gatherings in the Canadian capital, a bicycle journey from Toronto to Ottawa, etc. During the tri-level government election, Dafa practitioners engaged in large-scale truth clarification to governments, asking the Canadian government's help in rescuing Falun Gong practitioners' relatives, including Mr. He Lizhi, the husband of Toronto resident Zhang Li (voted as the "National outstanding young engineer" when she was in China); Ms Huang Xiuchao, mother of Toronto resident Liang Biao, and Mr. Huang Jiangang, brother of Ottawa resident Huang Limin.
