Sixty-Six-Year-Old Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Mao Rulun from Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, Passes Away as a Result of Persecution

Nov. 17, 2004 |   By a practitioner from the Jiangxi province

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Mao Rulun was from the city of Jiujiang in the province of Jiangxi. He was sixty-six years old. In December 2000, he was abducted and taken to Jiujiang city's Majialong Labor Camp, where he was brutally tortured. When he was released, he was in such bad condition that he was unable to recover. He passed away on February 11, 2004.

Prior to practicing Falun Gong, Mao Rulun experienced very poor health. He suffered from acute hepatitis and gallstones in 1998. Because he could not afford the 5,000 Yuan for medical treatment, at the end of the year he became paralyzed and was unable to move. Later he started practicing Falun Gong and he completely recovered.

Since July 20th of 1999 when Jiang's regime started to persecute Falun Gong, Mao had been repeatedly detained. In December of 2000, He was abducted and sent to the brainwashing center at the Majialong Labor Camp. In March of 2001, he was sentenced to two years in the labor camp.

When Mao Rulun was detained in the second division of the labor camp, warden Tian Bengui tried to brainwash him every day. He was forced to make tungsten wire for the inside of light globes. Being very old with poor eyesight, Mao could not even see the tungsten wire. However, Tian Bengui still forced him to make it, hoping Mao would be "Reformed" this way. After Mao said, "Falun Dafa is righteous," Tian Bengui hung him up by his wrist using two handcuffs and his toes could barely touch the floor. He was hung this way for three days without sleep. He could not use the toilet and both of his ankles were seriously injured by this torture.

Police officer Deng Chengsong from the second division incited the criminal Wu Binlin to torture Mao Rulun. They hung him from the window. The police officers told them to hang him like this unless his blood pressure was dangerously high. They hung him for three days without giving him anything to eat or drink. Later they hung him with both arms twisted behind his back. He weighed 170 Jin (1 lb=0.9 Jin) and all his weight was on his hands, causing the handcuffs to cut into his flesh. As a result, both of his wrists were severely injured.

The torture method of "hanging" is employed at the Majialong Labor Camp and the police gave it a nickname of "hanging preserved meat." Throughout this torture, the victim's hands are either hung vertically from the window or both arms are parallel to the floor so that the body looks like a cross with the toes touching the floor. They are not allowed to use the toilet. This torture often lasts several days.

Mao Rulun also had his hands and feet shackled with a chain connecting his hands and feet so that he had to keep his back bent and could not straighten out. At night he was handcuffed to the window and not allowed to sleep.

In 2002, Mao was finally released. His health was in very poor condition because of the long-term torture he suffered at the labor camp. In addition, he had to take care of his wife. On February 11, 2004, he passed away.
