Propagandists in China under Investigation; Chinese Social Science Academy at the Top of the List

Nov. 24, 2004

(Clearwisdom.net)

(November 6, 2004) [Editor's note: While many of the following people under investigation have titles such as "professor," "scholar," etc., the integrity of these titles is in this circumstance suspect, given the use to which they have put their cultural authority in abetting the Jiang faction as it suppresses Falun Gong. The impartiality, neutrality, and objectivity so integral to the academic enterprise has been compromised willfully for personal gain in assisting the persecution of an upright belief -- something, in the end, that can only be ruinous.]

The "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong," an international human rights organization, issued its first investigation list on November 5, 2004. This investigation will be focused on persons and organizations in the Party's ideology arm that have played key roles in persecuting Falun Gong. The Chinese Social Science Academy and the Beijing University Psychological Health Research Institute are among those on this list.

According to human rights organizations, it is confirmed through investigation that the Chinese Social Science Academy and its branches have established organizations and institutions specialized in studying the ideology to be used in the anti-Falun Gong movement. Those organizations have used their power under the guise of academic research to slander Falun Gong, instigate hatred towards it, and implement tactics to persecute it. They are also suspected of having influenced other authorities to use mental hospitals to torture Falun Gong practitioners with nerve-damaging drugs.

During the five years of the persecution against Falun Gong in China, countless Falun Gong practitioners were "convicted," tortured, or even murdered for their upright belief. Falun Gong practitioners have lost their families, were sent to jail, or even tortured to death. The "contributions in ideology" made up by the propagandists have played an important role in the persecution.

In July 14, 2004, Zhao Zhizhen, the former Wuhan City Broadcasting Bureau Director and Wuhan City Television Station Director, was sued in the U.S. for producing TV programs instigating hatred. He stands accused of being responsible for torture and killings as a result of the hate that was instigated.

The Chinese Anti-Cult Association website, China's official ideology arm for demonizing Falun Gong , was established under the direction and administration of Zhao Zhizhen. The website carries over one thousand articles slandering Falun Gong.

Those people were suspected of having committed crimes of assault and battery, instigating hatred, and slander. Wan Yusheng was sued in a Geneva court on April 16, 2004 with charge of torture and genocide. In December 2003, the International War Crime Tribunal in Luanda tried three people who used the media to instigate hatred and demonize their targets during a massacre in 1994. Two of them were sentenced to life imprisonment and the other was sentenced to 35 years in jail.

The "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" stated that it would submit evidence and facts obtained to the international court and seek legal punishment for those responsible. According to related laws, "foreign officials and their spouses and children are forbidden to enter democratic countries." The organization will submit those criminal records to the customs and immigration departments of all relevant countries.

For those who have participated in the persecution under deception and threats, if they have regrets and corrected their mistakes and cooperate in the investigation, the organization will consider the individual circumstances and may waive further legal actions against them.

The "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" was established on January 20, 2003. The organization's aim is to assist and coordinate between social justice and legal organizations to investigate all those who have been involved in persecuting Falun Gong. Its goal is to help the victims to bring the criminals to court, awaken people's conscience, and further warn people to stop persecuting Falun Gong.
