Wang Defu

Zhang Haiyan, Wang Defu's Mother

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhang Haiyan was a Falun Dafa practitioner and a resident of the Wangjia residential group, Dongxin Village, Hujia Township, Heishan County, Liaoning Province (zip code 121400). Her son Wang Defu is 12 years old, his nickname is Xiao Pang, and he was born on October 19, 1992. Xiao Pang has an uncle, Wang Gang, and an aunt, Huang Zhanqiu.

In October 2001, when Xiao Pang was 9 years old, his mother went to Beijing to appeal for the fair treatment of Falun Dafa, but she was arrested in Beijing by police officers and sent back home. Local police officers beat her, and detained her at the Heishan Detention Center. Two months later she was sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, where she suffered vicious treatment and torture. In March 2003, when Ms. Zhang Haiyan was brought home, it was apparent that she had become mentally traumatized due to the extreme mistreatment to which she was subjected.

On January 18, 2004, after enduring so much suffering, Ms. Zhang Haiyan died, leaving Xiao Pang (Wang Defu) alone. Xiao Pang cried, "I'll never see my mommy again!" Xiao Pang used to be quite bright and a good student, but after the death of his mother, he could no longer focus on studying. Xiao Pang's grandfather is disabled, having only one hand, and his grandmother suffers from tracheitis. Xiao Pang had to quit school in order to work with his father as a shepherd.

Xiao Pang is devoid of happiness since the death of his mother. He's thinner than other boys his age. Xiao Pang lives with his father, Wang Yan, grandfather, Wang Yushan, and grandmother, Zhang Suqing. The family has less than half an acre of land per person on which to make a living. They live in a run down clay house with a damaged roof, but they can't afford to fix it. Zhang Haiyan used to be the leading breadwinner of the family, but after she was detained, their family incurred debts of about 10,000 yuan. Xiao Pang's father used the borrowed money to raise sheep, but presently it seems unlikely that they'll be able to break even.

Xiao Pang is unable to attend school, so he won't receive the same education as other boys his age. Xiao Pang's father went to the Heishan County Court to sue the officers who tortured his wife and ultimately caused her death, but the court refused to hear the lawsuit.

We hope that all kind-hearted people will lend their support in seeking justice for Xiao Pang's mother.

Ms. Zhang Haiyan's Death Due to Torture

Ms. Zhang Haiyan was 34 years old when she died. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, and soon after beginning the practice, her nearsightedness was cured, and her deformed right leg returned to normal. She benefited both physically and mentally. After Jiang Zemin's regime started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, she fearlessly continued to practice. In mid-September 2001, she went to Beijing to appeal for the fair treatment of Falun Dafa, as was her right according to the Chinese Constitution, but she was arrested by Beijing police, sent back to her home town, beaten by local police officers, jailed at the Heishan Detention Center for two months, and then sentenced to two years in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

According to a reliable source, Ms. Zhang Haiyan remained steadfast in her belief in Falun Gong. As a result, she suffered beatings while she was in the labor camp, and she was subjected to several torture methods such as being hung by handcuffs, being tightly bound with ropes, and having her legs forced into the double crossed position with her wrists shackled with handcuffs, among others. Two long years of brutal torture nearly destroyed her mentally and physically. In February 2003, during a family visit, she appeared with her head taped up and her hands swollen, and she was unable to talk with her family members. A month later, around March 21, 2003, Ms. Zhang's family was ordered to come and take her home. By then Zhang had become mentally traumatized, and could no longer take care of herself. Officers at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp told her family, "We'll allow her a month of probation, after which we'll bring her back."

Upon returning home, her family discovered that she had three deep cuts on her head, each over ten centimeters (four inches) in length.

One month later, local police officers checked on Ms. Zhang's condition. They did not arrest her again, finding her still mentally traumatized.

During her ten-month stay at home after being tortured at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Zhang dared not speak, not even with her husband or son. She would quiver if someone spoke too loudly in her presence. On January 18, 2004, Ms. Zhang died in misery.
