[Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Policeman Wang Dongsheng from the Dingxi Prison Cruelly Tortures Three Dafa Practitioners
Wang Dongsheng is a policeman in charge of a certain section in the Dingxi Prison. Since the end of 2002 he has tortured Dafa practitioners Mr. Wen Weilong, Mr. Lu Yanben, and Mr. Feng Xinlei with inhuman means. Police officer Wang Dongsheng has electrically shocked and beaten the three practitioners, as well as many other foul deeds. For instance, he handcuffed the practitioners to a door. The practitioners were handcuffed backward with their hands raised up high, so that their bodies were forced to bend forward. He also ordered four criminals to torture the practitioners around the clock. They beat and kicked the practitioners, slapped their faces with the bottom of their shoes until the faces became swollen and prohibited them from talking to anybody. If an inmate was found talking to them, that inmate was beaten up and hung on the door, as well. If an inmate fell asleep during the night while watching the practitioners, he would also suffer the same torture.
In all kinds of meetings held in the prison section, officer Wang Dongsheng repeatedly emphasized to the three Dafa practitioners and other personnel, "You will suffer if you tell others about this." Because these practitioners don't have contact with the outside and the inmates are too scared to say anything specific, they only said, "It's too tragic, it's too tragic."
At present, we are unable to find out the length of time these three practitioners have been tortured or the exact extent of the torture. But a lot of people saw them being carried by four people from a workshop to a cell because they had been beaten so badly that they couldn't walk.

Since Shan Yongsheng became head of the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center in July 2003 , the persecution against Dafa practitioners has escalated:
Ms. Mao Yaping was locked up in the guardroom for over a month;
Mr. Zhang Zhenming was locked up in the guardroom for 20 days, handcuffed for 10 days and locked up in basement for another 6 days;
Ms. Wang Xiaojin was locked up after being force-fed;
Ms. Ding Yingqi was handcuffed in the guardroom for several days;
Ms. Ren Shuzhen, Ms. Li Xiuzhen, and Ms. Liu Caiqiu were handcuffed so tightly that they have many ulcers around their wrists that bled and oozed pus;
Ms. Xiao Hongmei was handcuffed and locked up in a basement;
Ms. Hou Yanqing and other practitioners suffered various degrees of torture.

On January 7, 2004, policemen from the Longhu Police Department arrested Dafa practitioners Xie Ke'an, Xie Peiqing, Jian Zhi from Shantou City. Their homes were ransacked, and they have been held at the Tuopu Detention Center.

[Ruyang City, Henan Province] Several Dafa Practitioners are Being Tortured with Excruciating Means
A while ago, the Dafa materials information center in Ruyang County, Luoyang District was destroyed. The police tried to force the practitioners to reveal the source of the truth-clarifying materials. Practitioners who refused to do so were blindfolded and then beaten up. The police tied up the practitioners, struck them in the face, forced them to kneel down, forced them to stand for a long time, deprived them of sleep, and four or five policemen took turns to beat one practitioner. The policemen also verbally abused the practitioners.
At present, Ms. Ren Qin and Ms. Shang Ai'she have been held at the detention center for over five months. They are both teachers from Ruyang County's Senior High School. Both have been fired without valid reason, and had their salary and benefits cut. Ren Qin's husband Yuan Xiangqian was forced to leave home, and the police is hunting him down. The school also fired him. His whereabouts are unknown. Police frequently talked to his sister Ms. Yuan Xiangge to find out his whereabouts, so his sister too was forced to leave home, and her whereabouts are also unknown.
Ms. Ma Yuemei and Ms. Duan Huixia were sentenced to 1 1/2 years of forced labor and sent to a forced labor camp over two months ago.
[Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Persecution against Guo Lirong
Ms. Guo Lirong, 38 years old, was an employee of Chengdu City's Qianfeng Electronic Company, Ltd. Since July 20, 1999, she has been steadfast in the cultivation of Dafa and clarified the truth about Dafa to the public. She went to Beijing several times to validate the Fa and because of that was detained many times in Beijing and Chengdu City. She has now been dismissed from her work.
In November 2001, members of the Urumqi City's "610 Office"(1) in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region sent her to a detention center at Urumqi City with the excuse of her having been involved in a local Falun Dafa event. Guo was tortured so severely in the detention center that she was in critical condition.
In June 2003, the detention center authorities notified Chengdu City's Fuqing Street Police Precinct, which is the jurisdiction Ms. Guo is under, to send people to bring Guo back. But policemen in the precinct commanded Guo's work unit to bring her back. Neither the police precinct people nor people from the work unit wanted to go; they tossed the responsibility back and forth. Eventually Guo's family requested the authorities to go and bring her back, but they still did not.
Also in June 2003, Ms. Guo went on a hunger strike again to protest the illegal detention. But afterwards she was transferred to a prison located at the No. 1 Division in 22 Donggebi Rd., Urumqi City, Xinjiang Autonomous Region (zip code: 830013). It was said Dafa practitioner Ms. Guo had written a letter to her family in August 2003. No one has heard from her since. Her family members are very worried about her. We still do not know whether she is alive or not.
[Liaoning Province] Wardens in the No.2 Division of the Masanjia Female Labor Camp Attempt to Forcibly Transform Dafa Practitioners
Since November 2003, wardens in the Masanjia Female Labor Camp Second Division started another round of brainwashing of Dafa practitioners. They deprive practitioners of their rights to see their family members or to make phone calls. They claim that those who do not give up Dafa will be sent to the Dabei Prison. Dafa practitioners are also deprived of sleep. Everyday, practitioners are forced to sit on small stools of one square inch in size for more than ten hours. They are not allowed to talk, and prisoners monitor them around the clock. Except for washing their faces, brushing their teeth and using the restroom, practitioners are not allowed to move, purchase anything or do some exercises. Practitioners even have to ask others to get daily necessities for them. The three meals always consist of hard, steamed bread and salted vegetables.
[Chongqing City] Arrest of Practitioner Wu Zhengyuan
On December 26, 2003, policemen arrested over 70-year-old practitioner Mr. Wu Zhenyuan from Zhongliang Town, Shapingba District, Chongqing City and sent him to the Geleshan Brainwashing Class. Wu was doing his farm work when the police led by Wu Gang from the Shapingba District's "610 Office" ran over and abducted him to the brainwashing class.
In August 2001, Mr. Wu had once been sent to the Geleshan Brainwashing Class. His wife had gone to the class to ask the police to release her husband, but his wife was detained for 15 days.

[Chongqing City] Arrest of Practitioner Chen Dongju
On December 15, 2003, local police arrested practitioner Ms. Chen Dongju when she was shopping at Huangjiaoya Street, Nan'an District, Chongqing City. Her whereabouts are unknown.
[Nanyang City, Henan Province] Arrest of Three Practitioners
Around December 12, 2003, police officers followed and arrested practitioners Ms. Zhang Hua, Ms. Chen Fenglan, both teachers, and Ms. Wang Xiuhua from Fangcheng County, Nanyang City, Henan Province when these practitioners were distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials. Police also ransacked their houses.
Another practitioner, Ms. Li Xia from Guangyang Town, Fangcheng County, was arrested. She was tied up and paraded in public at the People's Plaza. She was tortured so severely in the labor camp that one of her legs became deformed. It was very difficult for her to walk in the prison.
The county's "610 Office" personnel exert pressure on the whole education system. They force every practitioner to write the so-called "three statements"(2) to slander Dafa. Otherwise, they threaten to reduce or withhold the practitioners' salaries.

[Yanshi City, Henan Province] City Police Offer a Reward for the Arrest of Dafa Practitioner Zhu Xianzhi
On December 26, 2003, some officials from Yanshi City's Political and Judiciary Committee, from the city's police department and from the "610 Office" posted a wanted list on utility poles all over the county to frame and arrest Data practitioner Ms. Zhu Xianzhi, who used to live at the No.2 Team of Tansengsi Village, Houshi Township, Yanshi City. They offered a 5,000 Yuan (3) reward to entice villagers to report and arrest Zhu.
[Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Dafa Practitioners Yu Zhen and Wang Yuqin Are being Held at the Changliu Detention Center
During the afternoon of September 27, 2003, when Dafa practitioners Ms. Yu Zhen and Ms. Wang Yuqin, from Tonghua City, Jilin Province, were distributing truth-clarifying materials at Xire Village, Yayuan Town, someone reported them. Afterwards, policemen arrested them and confiscated the truth-clarifying materials and videodisks they had brought. They also ransacked the practitioners' houses and took away all of their Dafa books, information materials, videodisks, pictures and VCR.
That same night, Dai, head of the district's Political and Judiciary Committee and the "610 Office", went to Yayuan Town and sent the two practitioners to Tonghua City's Changliu Detention Center.
On October 23, 2002, perpetrators in Tonghua City's Forced Labor Management Committee decided to send these practitioners to a forced labor camp for two years for distributing Falun Gong materials to villagers.
Because Yu Zhen went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, she became extremely weak and showed many symptoms. Her families requested to bail her out for hospitalization. On November 18, 2003, the detention center officials notified the unit officials who were in charge of Yu Zhen's case, and suggested to speed up the bail request procedure. On December 4, although the Medical Parole Section of the city's Central Hospital proved Yu's diseases do exist, the police substation and city's police department still didn't process the case. Meanwhile, Yu Zhen had been in shock three or four times.
Recently, it was said that the policemen have decided to send the two practitioners to Changchun City's Female Forced Labor Camp without notifying their families.

[Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Wardens in the Dongling Prison Overload Dafa Practitioners with Hard Labor
Twenty-five Dafa practitioners have been detained at Shenyang City's Dongling Prison. The policemen there forced them to work beyond their physical ability. Practitioners have to work 16 hours a day, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Furthermore, these policemen often work overtime themselves to persecute Dafa practitioners.
[Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Arrest of Dafa Practitioner Zhao Yu in Shenyang City
Mr. Zhao Yu, from Tonghua City, Jilin Province, is a senior engineer of Xi'an City's National Defense Science and Industry Committee. On January 28, 2004, police officers arrested him at the Shenyang City's Taoxian Airport. The details are unknown.
(1)"610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
(2) "Three Statements" Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these as proof that they have given up their belief in Falun Dafa. Concocted by the "610 Office," the three statements consist of a letter of repentance for having practiced Falun Gong, a guarantee to never again to practice Falun Gong nor go to Beijing to appeal, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners.
