(Clearwisdom.net, April 16, 2004) As evening fell on the night of April 14, which was approximately the time for the UN Commission on Human Rights to vote on the human rights situation of different nations, more than 60 Falun Gong practitioners in the San Francisco Bay area came to the Chinese Consulate to expose Jiang Zemin's brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and call on all circles to jointly end the persecution and killing of innocent Falun Gong practitioners.
Falun Gong practitioners said that they would continue their efforts to expose Jiang's crimes until persecution against Falun Gong is ended.
In the cold wind, some practitioners displayed several banners which read "Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong," "Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice," "End the Killing," "Falun Gong Practitioners only Want Freedom of Practice and Belief," "United Nations Act on China's Human Rights Violations," while the rest of the practitioners demonstrated Falun Gong exercises for passersby.
A practitioner named, Adam, is a media director of a San Francisco advertising company. He said that the purpose of this appeal is to let people know about Falun Gong and to support the U.S. resolution on China's human rights violations.
Adam said: "Jiang's political gang fears that their human rights atrocities will be brought up publicly by the UN. Over the past years, therefore, this group has used all means, for example, using trade deals to buy votes from some poor small nations to support its üeno-action' motion, to prevent the UN from passing a resolution condemning its human rights."
Dr. Zou Wei is a postdoctoral fellow in University of California at Berkeley. He said that Jiang's political group's human rights violations escalated during the annual meeting of the UN Commission of Human Rights (UNCHR). According to reports published on Clearwisdom.net, nearly 20 Falun Gong practitioners have died of persecution since this March.
Dr. Zou said, "Jiang's political group has sent sham NGOs and a delegation of dozens of officials to Geneva to spread lies among representatives of the UNCHR member nations. While so many Falun Gong practitioners are being so brutally persecuted, these Chinese officials declared that it was the üeBest Period' of China's human rights."
Dr. Zou pointed out that overseas Falun Gong practitioners had been peacefully and rationally explaining the facts of Falun Gong and exposing the brutal persecution to people around the world and to the governments of all nations thus attracting attention from the international community. He said: "In the U.S. State Department's annual human rights report published on February 25, 2004, it was concluded that China's human rights had deteriorated in 2003 as the government continued to repress Falun Gong spiritual movement: Several thousand Falun Gong practitioners were being detained in prisons, labor camps, mental hospitals and special brainwashing centers, and several hundred Falun Gong practitioners had died from torture or abuse while in police custody."
It was reported that the fabricated "NGOs" sent to the UN by the Chinese government are directly controlled by the Chinese government. For example, Wang Yusheng has gone to Geneva to attend the UN human rights meetings many times. He is the director of an apparent "NGO" in China. However, his official post in the Chinese regime was recently exposed and this has caused a sensation in Geneva as it is impossible for a member of a government to be part of a non-governmental organization.
According to an investigation by an international organization, the "China Anti-Cult Association" chaired by Wang Yusheng was created on November 13, 2000. This apparent "NGO" was actually created for the purpose of legitimizing and assisting Jiang's political group in their efforts to persecute Falun Gong using the resources in the science and technology fields. Wang personally went to Shandong's 1st Women Labor Camp to participate in persecuting Falun Gong. Wang advocates the use of sleep deprivation to torture Falun Gong practitioners.
Brad is a college student and he lives north of San Francisco. He drove more than one and a half hours to participate in this appeal. He said: "We will not stop our appeal and public-exposure of Jiang's crimes as long as the persecution of Falun Gong has not ended."
