New Zealand: Falun Gong Practitioners Protest Bo Xilai's Visit (Photos)

June 1, 2004

(Clearwisdom.net) On May 27, 2004, Bo Xilai arrived in New Zealand to attend the China-New Zealand trade negotiations. Outside the Sheraton where Bo stayed, Falun Gong practitioners in New Zealand unfurled banners that read, "Bring Jiang Zemin to justice," "Bring Bo Xilai to justice," and "Falun Dafa is great." They also related the persecution encountered by practitioners in China to passersby.

Currently, Bo Xilai is sued in the U.S. and Germany for committing genocide, torture and crimes against humanity. During his tenure as mayor of Dalian City and Governor of Liaoning Province, he was stained with many Falun Gong practitioners' blood. When he was the mayor of Dalian City (1993 to 2001), Dalian was one of the cities where Falun Gong was most severely persecuted and up to present, at least 17 Falun Gong practitioners were verified to have died from the persecution in Dalian. During his tenure as the Governor of Liaoning Province (January 2001 to February 2004), Liaoning became one of the provinces where Falun Gong was most violently suppressed. Up to present, at least 106 Falun Gong practitioners were verified to have died from the persecution. The death toll ranked the third in the country. The province has many jails and labor camps including the notorious Masanjia Labor Camp, Dabei Jail and Dalian Labor Camp, where tortures that Falun Gong practitioners are subjected to are extremely cruel. In Masanjia Labor Camp, for example, 18 female Falun Gong practitioners were stripped of all clothes and thrown into male cells, where they were humiliated, insulted and tortured.
