Cincinnati, USA: Practitioners Hold an Anti-Torture Picture Exhibition (Photos)

July 1, 2004 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in Cincinnati

(Clearwisdom.net) On June 25, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioners from Cincinnati, Ohio held an "Anti-Torture Picture Exhibition" in Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati on "World Anti-Torture Day." The event raised awareness of the persecution in China and received positive support from the local residents.

The Anti-Torture Exhibition displayed images and descriptions of more than ten torture methods that Jiang's regime uses to torture Falun Gong practitioners in China in an attempt to force them to deny their beliefs. The exhibit also presented a number of photographs concerning specific cases of Chinese practitioners being tortured and injured as a result of the persecution.

Learning the Falun Gong exercises at the exhibition site

Fountain Square is in the center of downtown Cincinnati. Many downtown workers come here to have lunch every day. Many passers-by stopped to take in the anti-torture display. They read the posters carefully and seriously, and asked for more facts from the Falun Gong practitioners. When they learned that these practitioners were persecuted simply because they practiced a peaceful exercise system, almost all the people were indignant and upset. Many people signed their names on the postcards addressed to President Bush asking the American government to help stop the persecution; some of them also took some postcards with them to collect signatures from friends. Many people told the practitioners that they were glad to learn the facts, and encouraged the practitioners by praising the exhibit and wishing them good luck.

One man read the posters for a long time and then introduced himself, saying that he used to be a member of Amnesty International. He said he was willing to contact the local office for help and he provided the contact information of several local human rights organizations.

Several pre-destined people showed a strong interest in Falun Gong and asked where they could learn the exercises. Some of them started to learn the exercises directly at the exhibition site.
