Analysis of South African Shooting Incident Reveals the Need for the International Community to Help Stop the Persecution

July 4, 2004 |   By Chen Yi

(Clearwisdom.net) The incident in which peaceful Falun Dafa practitioners were targeted in a shooting in Johannesburg, South Africa on June 28, 2004, has generated enormous international interest. By analyzing this incident, we can see that responsibility for stopping this terrorism lies with the people and governments of the entire world.

Was the Gunman a Personal Enemy of the Practitioners?

The gunman could not have been a personal enemy of the Falun Dafa practitioners. Otherwise, they would have taken their revenge while still at home in Australia, instead of traveling all the way to Johannesburg to commit the crime.

Was Robbery the Motive?

The victims are not wealthy. The shooting incident occurred on the road while they were driving. The shooter fled the scene after seeing that the practitioners' car had been stopped and was disabled, instead of approaching the vehicle to rob the helpless occupants. Obviously, the motive for the shooting was not robbery.

How Did the Gunman Recognize His Target?

If the gunman did not know the victim, how would he have recognized his target? While many Falun Dafa practitioners were riding in the car, only the practitioner shot was the one wearing clothing that identified him as a Falun Dafa practitioner, David Liang. We can ascertain that the shooter was aiming for Falun Dafa practitioners because these insignias were the only possible identifiers of the intended targets. The shooter would have had no way of predicting whether there would be any Falun Dafa practitioners going to South Africa, exactly who they might be or from which country they would come. Hence, the gunman was really aiming at the Falun Dafa practitioners of the entire world. As long as the person is a Falun Dafa practitioner, shoot to kill! If several other practitioners had also been wearing clothing that bore Falun Dafa insignias, the outcome of this incident might have been much worse.

It was not a personal enemy that committed this crime, and it was not done for the purpose of an armed holdup. In addition, the shooter had never met his victims, so we may conclude that the gunman was hired to target only Falun Dafa practitioners.

Who Hired the Gunman?

We will not speculate as to the identity of the shooter, since the South African police are currently investigating this case. We are concerned about who hired these shooters, however, because that is who would be the real culprits! Who is the most hostile towards Falun Dafa and anyone who follows Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance? That is Jiang and his regime. Zeng Qinghong (1) is a prominent member of the Jiang regime, one who helped plan the persecution of Falun Dafa.

The shooting occurred during a South African visit by Zeng Qinghong and Bo Xilai (2), from June 27 through June 29, 2004. Falun Dafa practitioners from Australia had come to South Africa to file a lawsuit against Zeng. This lawsuit was for crimes that were committed in accordance with the genocidal persecution of Falun Gong in China, under Jiang's personally stated policies of "ruin their reputations, bankrupt them financially and destroy them physically," as well as "killing them won't matter because their deaths will be counted as suicides." In order to avoid being sued, Zeng used the gangster tactic of hiring henchmen to terrorize the Falun Dafa practitioners with an attempt on their lives, or at least with the appearance of such.

Stopping the Persecution Is the Mutual Responsibility of the International Community

Criminals all clearly know that once they are being sued, it becomes very difficult to escape responsibility for their actions, so they sometimes try to kill the victims who are trying to sue them. In order to stop the Falun Dafa practitioners, Jiang and his regime dared to hire overseas hit men. This exposes to the international community the inhumanity of his nature that was inherent to the persecution of Falun Gong.

In order to persecute Falun Gong, Jiang and his regime have dared to thumb their noses at the laws of other countries. Many incidents involving damage to Falun Dafa practitioners' personal property have occurred in many countries around the world. All these incidents have demonstrated that the Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Dafa is not confined to a single country, but involves the entire international community. Stopping such persecution and bringing Jiang and his regime to justice for genocide, is the common responsibility of people and governments around the world.

In the early days of the persecution, Jiang and his regime used to hand out booklets slandering Falun Dafa to foreign officials overseas. Now his regime has become like "mice scurrying across the road that everyone wants to hit." Where Jiang once hired people to block the peaceful appeals made by Falun Dafa practitioners, he is now hiring gunmen to maim them. Using his pen and his guns, Jiang's bag of tricks have all been used up, and he now realizes that his days are numbered. How can righteousness ever be defeated by such underhanded tricks? Ultimately, justice must reign over evil!

    1. Zeng Qinghong is Vice President of China; a flagrant violator of human rights who was appointed by Jiang.
    2. Bo Xilai is the Chinese Minister of Commerce, also notorious as a violator of human rights in his former position as a provincial governor.
