Sydney, Australia: Practitioners Hold Press Conference Regarding the Lawsuit against Chinese State Councilor Chen Zhili (Photos)

Aug. 10, 2004

(Clearwisdom.net) On August 5, 2004, Sydney Falun Gong practitioners held a press conference in front of the Federal Court to publicize the lawsuit filed against Chinese State Councilor Chen Zhili during her visit to Tanzania for extra judicial killing and torturing Falun Gong practitioners in the circle of education in China. Chen was the first Chinese official sued by Falun Gong practitioners and summoned to appear before court.

This lawsuit has a special historical significance. Chen Zhili's appearing before the court aroused a strong stir among Chinese officials inside and outside China. This allows those officials to realize that no matter who they are, no matter where and when, they would not be able to free themselves from the crimes they have committed in the persecution of Falun Gong. History will demonstrate that all evildoers have to be held accountable for the crimes they committed.

Australia Falun Dafa Association spokesperson John Deller stated what Chen Zhili has done to poison the minds of people in the education circle in her participation of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. During her term as Education Minister from 1999 to 2003, Chen launched a Cultural Revolution-style campaign throughout China's education system -- including graduate schools, colleges, high schools, primary schools, and even kindergartens -- ordering teaches and students to undergo "political shaping of thoughts" with respect to Falun Gong. Amidst the campaign, teachers and students who practiced Falun Gong were often sent to brainwashing centers where they underwent psychological and physical torture. Sixty-one are known to have died as a result. Only in Qsinghua University (A prestigious university in China), more than 300 professors and students have been illegally imprisoned, fired or expelled, or directly sent to forced labor camps.

At the end of June, nine Australian Falun Gong practitioners went to South Africa to try to file a lawsuit against Chinese official Zeng Qinghong and Bo Xilai for their crimes in the persecution of Falun Gong. They were shot at by some hired thugs. Practitioner David Liang was injured in both his feet. Thus the lawsuit was interrupted. A month later, Chen Zhili who also visited South Africa was unable to escape from being sued.

John said that Chinese officials who participate in the persecution of Falun Gong are often afraid of courts of those big countries such as the U.S. that advocate human rights. Tanzania high court's action of justice indicates: even if in such a small country in Africa, those human rights violators are unable to escape.

In order to cooperate with the press conference, Sydney practitioners once again held truth-clarifying poster exhibition and anti-torture exhibition at the same time. They also held a group exercise demonstration in front of the federal court. Most passersby and work people nearby work in the legal community. Many people stopped to watch truth-clarifying posters to further learn about Falun Gong and the persecution by the Jiang's group. They became clearer about Jiang group's evil nature.

In recent years, a number of Chinese officials who are responsible in the persecution of Falun Gong are successively sued in Europe and North America. Among them, Liu Qi, Xia Deren, Ding Guangen and Zhao Zhifei were convicted. Canadian Royal Mounted Police also put 45 Chinese officials including Jiang Zemin provided by World Organization to Investigation the Persecution of Falun Gong in a monitoring list for those suspected of crimes against humanity. Recently, Director of Wuhan TV station Zhao Zhizhen was sued in New Haven, Connecticut in the U.S. for using media to instigate hatred.

Any evildoings will not be able to escape from the reach of the law. The legal complaint successfully filed in Tanzania against Chen Zhili shows that international society is paying attention to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. This exposes and shocks Jiang's group and also indicates the collapse of the system used to suppress Falun Gong as well as the coming wave of justice that the wrongdoers will inevitably meet.
