My Thoughts from Watching an "Anti-torture Exhibition" Held by Falun Gong Practitioners Living Outside of China

Aug. 5, 2004 |   By a practitioner from China

(Clearwisdom.net) Recently, many Falun Dafa practitioners in different countries have started to hold "anti-torture exhibitions" to expose the evil and to clarify the truth of the persecution. People have been shocked to find that the persecution of Falun Gong is so brutal. The feedback we have received has shown that this is a very effective way to help people find out the truth about the persecution.

As the Fa-rectification moves forward and with practitioners' continuous efforts, more and more people have come to know the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution. However, their understanding hasn't been very deep. Many people aren't aware of the brutality of the persecution. They don't know that practitioners are tortured and mistreated to such an extent. They've never seen the actual methods of torture used on Falun Gong practitioners. They couldn't imagine the physical and mental suffering that practitioners have been enduring. Though there are descriptions of practitioners' experiences in the truth-clarification fliers, these are only words, so many people don't have a visual image of the tortures. The anti-torture exhibitions are more direct and more effective. By holding these exhibitions, we bring people to the scene. Seeing what the practitioners have been suffering, people find it easier to understand just how evil the persecution is. I would suggest that practitioners in other countries hold these anti-torture exhibitions more often to expose the evil and clarify the truth.

Practitioners in China are unable to hold large-scale torture exhibitions in public places like the practitioners living abroad do. However, we can imitate the methods of torture when we explain the persecution facts to people face-to-face. We can also describe the means of torture and the results in more detail. For those practitioners who were personally tortured or who have witnessed the tortures, they can do an even better job. I believe we can achieve a better result by doing this when explaining the truth of the persecution.

Also, we can include more pictures in our truth-clarification booklets and flyers. Take practitioner Gao Rongrong from Shenyang in Liaoning Province as an example. We can show people pictures of her taken before and after the police disfigured her face. We can also draw pictures to illustrate the various kinds of tortures being used on practitioners. At the same time, we can present the beauty of Falun Dafa to people, such as the scenes of practitioners doing the Falun Dafa exercises. I believe we can achieve a better result by using both words and pictures. I once saw a laminated card with a photo of a young practitioner doing the meditation exercise on one side, and the words, "Falun Dafa is Good," with a brief introduction to Falun Gong on the other. It seemed to me that people liked it very much. They kept it or gave it to friends as a gift.

In brief, the content and the format of our truth-clarification materials shouldn't be limited. In order to attract and affect more people, we can do an even better job of explaining the facts and saving the sentient beings by using many different methods.
