(Clearwisdom.net) On October 13, 2005, Falun Dafa practitioners in Alberta Province held a press conference in front of the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Ms. Anne McLellan's Edmonton Office to call on the Minister to bar Huang Huahua, current Governor of Guangdong Province, from entering Canada. Huang, who has severely violated human rights in China, is to lead a delegation to visit Canada.
Mr. Kevin Duan relates his personal experience of the persecution in China
During the press conference, Falun Gong spokesperson Chen Xia read a letter from renowned international human rights attorney, David Matas. The letter pointed out that Huang Huahua actively cooperated with former president Jiang Zemin's faction to persecute Falun Gong. Guangdong Province became one of the provinces where the persecution is extremely severe. Huang Huahua cannot be excused of his responsibility in the persecution. Falun Gong practitioners also wrote a letter to related Canadian Ministers and requested them to bar Huang Huahua, guilty of crimes against humanity, from entering Canadian territory.
Mr. Kevin Duan, a Falun Gong practitioner who came from Guangdong Province related his personal experience of the persecution he suffered when he was in China. Kevin Duan said, on the night of December 13, 2000, because he practices Falun Gong and told local people the facts about Falun Gong and compiled some truth-clarification materials, the Guangzhou Municipal 610 Office and the Tianhe District 610 Office secretly arrested and detained him and other three practitioners without just cause or legal procedures. Afterwards, he was beaten for seven straight hours. As a result, he lost consciousness and his body was covered with bruises.
Later, Mr. Duan was sent to a detention center and was forced to do slave labor for five months and two weeks. He was forced to work an average of 16 to 17 hours a day, with the maximum being 20 hours. Each meal they were provided with only contained radish or cabbage, or bean sprouts with very little oil or salt. He became undernourished and weak It was said that this is the usual practice in detention centers and prisons, to prevent "criminals" from escaping.
On May 23, 2001, Kevin Duan was sentenced to two years in a labor camp. He was secretly sent to a brigade dedicated to suppressing Falun Gong in Guangzhou No. 1 Forced Labor Camp, where he suffered systematic mental and physical tortures. In the labor camp, Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to intense brainwashing. They were forced to watch video programs and to read books and newspapers that slandered the founder of Falun Gong. They were forced to accept the "help and instruction" from those who renounced their belief under pressure, and "assistance" from outside the labor camp (namely, practitioners were handcuffed and shackled and were sent under escort to other labor camps or brainwashing centers), as well as the "assistance" from society (for instance, listening to lectures given by so-called medical doctor Chen from Foshan Municipal Psychiatric Hospital). The labor camp forbade Falun Gong practitioners' wives from visiting them and tried to force practitioners to write the three statements. In doing so, the labor camp attempted to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief.
Kevin Duan stressed in his speech that Jiang's faction and the Chinese Communist Party persecute Falun Gong and made the suppression a systematic national policy and no actual laws are followed. During his detention, his non-practitioner father spent 100,000 yuan to try to get him out. In the end, the money was spent, but the response obtained was, "We can help if he committed murder or rape, but the [persecution of] Falun Gong is the policy from the upper governmental levels and it is beyond our scope to help." Even attorneys didn't dare to accept the case, with the excuse of "policy from upper level officials."
The Chinese communist regime persecutes Falun Gong while using all means to cover up its crimes. For instance, they stated, "promoting Falun Gong" as the reason on the detention form, but on the document of the forced labor sentence, they did not mention Falun Gong at all. Instead, they fabricated the charge of "disturbing social order." When I was beaten up, they did not allow my wife to visit me, fearing that their evildoing would be disclosed.
Finally, Kevin called upon those Chinese communist officials who participated in the suppression of Falun Gong to realize the inevitable momentum: The Chinese Communist Party, which is against heaven's will, is about to disintegrate and the persecution will not last long. The final trial of those evildoers is approaching. He called on the Chinese officials to stop assisting the evil and to abandon the evil path and choose a good path instead.

They also included the document that recorded Huang Huahua's crimes committed in the persecution of Falun Gong, a list of names of the persecuted practitioners and a petition letter signed by local residents.
