Ms. Zhang Yaping, an Instructor at Beijing Capital Normal University, Sent to a Forced Labor Camp

Oct. 28, 2005

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhang Yaping is an instructor at the Information Engineering School, Beijing Capital Normal University. The police colluded with Li Hongqi, the secretary of the Information Engineering School to "illegally arrest" her. Then they sentenced her to two and a half years of forced labor.

Ms. Zhang, thirty-seven years old, had an operation on December 25, 1998, because she was suffering from late stage breast cancer. She already had chemo-therapy twice. As a result, she felt nauseated, wanted to vomit and her hair started to fall out. Ms. Zhang started to practice Falun Gong in February 1999. She read the book and did the exercises every day. Two months later, she passed her physical examination. She never dreamed that the sickness would leave her within only two months.

In July and October of 1999, Ms. Zhang went to Tiananmen Square twice to clarify the truth about Falun Gong and was arrested and detained both times. In the year 2002, Ms. Zhang Yaping was arrested at a fellow practitioner's home and was sent to a forced labor camp for one and half a years.

In March of this year, a lab assistant said to Ms. Zhang, "You are good people." Ms. Zhang told the assistant how she conducted herself according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and yet she was persecuted and sent to a forced labor camp for one and a half years. She explained how she was cruelly tortured in the labor camp. She told how she was denied sleep if she could not finish the assigned labor and only allowed to use the toilet twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon and no other time. She also described how she was sworn at and beaten every day.

After hearing what Ms. Zhang said, Li Hongqi and Zhang Shuqing, secretaries at the Information Engineering School, Beijing Capital Teacher-Training University, had a conversation with her. They asked Ms. Zhang to write a self-criticism. They did not allow her to teach her class, and they threatened to dismiss her. Even though Ms. Zhang had matriculated from the Chinese Academy of Science with a Ph.D., they did not allow her to work. On September 23, 2005, they colluded with the police from the City Public Security Bureau to arrest Ms. Zhang, using the excuse of having a conversation with her, and had her sentenced to two and a half a years of forced labor.
