(Clearwisdom.net) As if a loud thunderclap had just awakened me, I finally realized the existence of my dreadfully inflated "ego" after reading a Clearwisdom editor's comments about one of the articles I submitted for publishing. I became aware of my "ego" as a "thing" that is not me, but that has attached itself to my thoughts as if it were my shadow. I often share my thoughts with others, and I used to talk a lot about getting rid of my ego and looking inward during conflicts, but I nevertheless remained completely blind to the actual existence of my ego. While I enjoyed the admiration of new practitioners who did not yet have a deep understanding of the Fa, I remained complacent about my own comprehension of the Fa principles, and thus my sense of ego was further concealed from me. I explained away my sense of ego with partial and out-of-context Fa principles, and I even magnified my ego both intentionally and unintentionally. However, I can now clearly see through my own self-proclaimed and self-promoted "ego." This insight has opened my eyes and cleared away many questions and doubts that I have harbored during cultivation.
I cannot explain my feeling very well now, but I will say, "Teacher, I will follow your teachings and do the three things well." I also hope that fellow practitioners, who have the ability to write, will write what's on their minds, and openly share their understandings of the Fa. As fellow practitioners frankly discuss and kindly exchange ideas, with the help of Master's gentle attention, we will certainly walk the path of Fa-rectification well.
This is only my personal understanding. If there is anything inappropriate, please kindly correct me.
