Spain: Human Rights Lawyer Speaks on the Chinese Communist Party's Persecution of Falun Gong (Photos)

Dec. 1, 2005 |   By a Spanish practitioner

(Clearwisdom.net) In late November 2005, a meeting about marketing and advertising was held in Coin, a city in Southern Spain. Around three hundred and fifty teachers and students from every Spanish university participated in the meeting. One of the topics for discussion was "The dual character of the CCP's propaganda." This topic focused on the facts behind the flood of low-priced goods that come out of China. This is the first time that such a controversial topic has been put on the table for discussion at this annual event. International consumers lack the true information about China's low-priced products, so this topic aroused great interest and concern from the participants.

Human rights lawyer Carlos Iglesias speaks

The organizer specially invited human rights lawyer Carlos Iglesias to participate in the conference and make a keynote speech. Mr. Iglesias has been part of Falun Gong practitioners' lawsuits against Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials who are responsible for human rights abuses against Falun Gong practitioners. The lawsuits are filed when the CCP leaders visit Spain. Mr. Iglesias's speech exposed how the CCP tramples on human rights, persecutes Falun Gong practitioners with all forms of suppression and violence, and sells goods, produced by detainees at forced labor camps and prisons, to western countries. Carlos Iglesias's speech produced a great response among the participants.

According to Mr. Iglesias's introduction, under the CCP's rule, the Chinese have lost their original goodness. Because the CCP dictatorship could not tolerate Falun Gong's principles of truthfulness, compassion, forbearance that were recovering people's morality in China, it launched this brutal persecution of innocent people. People were deprived of their freedom of belief and even tortured to death.

Mr. Iglesias revealed, "The CCP maintained the persecution of Falun Gong by manipulating and controlling the media and fabricating information. It used China's biggest media agency, state-run Xinhua, to propagate lies and incite hatred. Reporters Without Borders described Xinhua as the largest propaganda agency in the world.

"However," he continued, "more and more Chinese people are awakening. Nearly six million people in China have chosen to break away from the CCP, a party that has murdered eighty million Chinese people since it assumed power."

The audience listens attentively

According to Amnesty International and UN human rights organizations, China under the CCP is undoubtedly one of the countries with the worst human rights records in the world. Carlos Iglesias clearly pointed out that products made in China that reach international consumers come from the hands of those detained in forced labor camps because they have opinions or beliefs that are different from the Communist doctrine. They are locked up in prisons illegally, suffer systematic torture and are forced to work every day for up to sixteen hours. The Spanish conference participants who had no prior knowledge of this said it is terrible that such things are happening in the 21st century.

After the meeting, a lot of people talked with Carlos Iglesias and asked how they can help Falun Gong practitioners who are suffering in China and what they can do to stop the persecution.
