Los Angeles: Practitioners Call on Argentina to Resist CCP's Export of Violence (Photos)

Dec. 23, 2005 |   By Falun Gong practitioners in LA

(Clearwisdom.net) On December 14, 2005, when Falun Gong practitioners were peacefully protesting the Chinese delegation headed by Luo Gan in front of Argentina's National Congress Building, the Chinese Embassy sent out assailants to attack them. The Argentine police at the scene did little to stop the assaults. In order to express their deep concern over the incident, on December 20, Falun Gong practitioners went to the Argentine Consulate in Los Angeles to peacefully protest and deliver a letter to the consul. The letter called for the Argentine government to not yield to pressure from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and to uphold the just position of a democratic country. The vice-consul who received the practitioners expressed that he would convey the Falun Gong practitioners' request to his government to make sure that no such incident occurs in the future in Argentina.

Practitioners held banners and signs reading, "Argentina, bring criminals to justice," "Please help stop the persecution of Falun Gong in China," and "Do not help CCP persecute Falun Gong." Some people passing by took truth clarification materials and concerned, inquired of the practitioners as to what happened.

Representatives for Falun Gong practitioners, including associate professor Wu Yingnian from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) entered the Argentine consulate and delivered a letter of protest, a copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and truth clarification materials about the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong to Vice-consul Mr. Fernando Brun. They had a friendly and candid conversation. Mr. Brun expressed that he had learned about the incident of Falun Gong practitioners being assaulted in Argentina, and he thoughtfully asked the state of injury of the practitioners who had been attacked.

Prof. Wu Yingnian told the vice-consul that Luo Gan is the head of China's 610 Office and his hands are stained with numerous people's blood. Luo not only murdered people inside China, but also exported violence outside China. Prof. Wu expressed hope that countries around the world will not be deceived by the superficial enticement of the Chinese economy. Currently, the CCP's human rights abuses are still very serious. The CCP still ruthlessly suppresses Falun Gong, underground Christian churches and other groups. Democratic countries should not take the CCP's acts of violence for granted.

After hearing the Falun Gong practitioners' explanation of the Chinese Communist regime's ruthless and senseless persecution, particularly after looking at photos of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gao Rongrong's disfigured face resulting from electric baton shocks by the police in Liaoning Province, Mr. Brun expressed his sympathy. He said that they have learned about the serious situation of religious persecution in China. He also said that he would convey Falun Gong practitioners' concerns to the Argentine Embassy in Washington, DC and the Argentine government, to make sure no similar incidents occur in the future. Mr. Brun said that Argentina had also experienced a turbulent period of time under the rule of an autocratic regime. Now, Argentina is a free and democratic country, and guarantees its citizens freedom and the right to religious belief. His government cannot allow the Chinese Communist regime to extend its violence to Argentina.

According to reports on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website, on December 14, 2005, when Falun Gong practitioners were peacefully protesting the Chinese delegation headed by Luo Gan, one of the chief persecutors, in front of Argentina's National Congress, the assailants sent out by Chinese Embassy violently beat them, and stole their banners and truth clarification display boards. The police at the scene did not stop the assaults, as they said they had orders from the top not to touch the Chinese assailants. On December 16, Falun Gong practitioners who had been assaulted and beaten filed a lawsuit through lawyer Alejandro Cowes against the assailants and the police officers who did little to stop the assaults.
