The Yantai Daily Fabricated a Report Attacking Falun Gong

Feb. 6, 2005 |   By Liu Meiling

(Clearwisdom.net) On August 11, 1999, the Yantai Daily, a newspaper in Yantai City, Shandong Province, published a report about me. The article was entitled, "Falun Gong is Merciless while the Party Committee is Merciful." There were many parts of the article that were inconsistent with the facts.

First, the journalist who wrote the article had never interviewed me. I wonder how he came up with such a report about me.

Second, the report said that I began to practice Falun Gong after I heard that doing so may cure my daughter's illness. This is totally wrong. I started to practice Falun Gong in the winter of 1997. My daughter fell ill in the spring of 1998. She was hospitalized twice that year, and we spent nearly 20,000 yuan on her medical expenses. She passed away in the winter of 1998, despite the medical treatment.

Third, the report wrote about the donations made by fellow villagers to treat my son's illness. What was written was also not true. When my son was hospitalized, the persecution of Falun Gong had just begun. The local 610 Office people went to the villages to confiscate Dafa books. When they came to my village, my fellow villagers happened to be donating money for the treatment of my son's illness. Together, the donations reached over 3,600 yuan, and the village officials sent the money to my home, where my husband accepted the donation. At that time, I was at the city hospital accompanying my ill son. The report nonetheless stated that I accepted the donation myself, and that I wrote words of appreciation. In fact, I didn't have a chance to write words of appreciation, and the journalist fabricated the words of appreciation and published it in the report.

I am tremendously appreciative of my fellow villagers' kind donations. However, the Yantai Daily used this to attack Falun Gong. Their behavior is really shameful!

I am still steadfast in my Falun Gong cultivation, and so is my son.
