January 2005: 75 Confirmed Deaths of Falun Gong Practitioners Due to the Persecution (Photo)

April 3, 2005 |   By Minghui reporter Li Ming

(Clearwisdom.net) In the first month of 2005, seventy-five persecution death cases of Falun Gong practitioners have been confirmed. The persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party and Jiang Zemin's regime has persisted for over five years. To date, there have been 1,500 confirmed cases of death due to the persecution

Of the seventy-five cases, there are eight Falun Gong practitioners who died as a result of torture and abuse in January 2005:

There were fifty-three deaths of female Falun Gong practitioners, which account for nearly 71% of the seventy-five.

Thirty-seven of the January deaths are of practitioners over 55 years old (49%), including ten very old people, three of whom were in their eighties.

The youngest victims were 30 years old. There were four practitioners of this age who died:

China has twenty-two mainland provinces, five autonomous regions and four administrative municipalities. Torture deaths were reported in eighteen of the twenty-two mainland provinces, three of the four administrative municipalities and one autonomous region. They rank as follows:

20 in Hebei Province
9 in Liaoning Province
6 in Jilin Province
4 in Heilongjiang Province
3 each from Yunnan Province, Chongqing City, Hunan Province, Sichuan Province, Neimenggu Province and Beijing City
2 each in Jiangxi Province, Henan Province, Tianjin City, Hubei Province, Shandong Province and Guangdong Province
1 each from Ganshu Province, Shaanxi Province, An'hui Province, Guizhou Province, Xinjiang Autonomous Region and Shanxi Province

The victims in these cases refused to accept the deceit of Jiang's regime and insisted on believing in "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." They insisted on telling their captors of their experience of benefiting from Falun Gong and its effect on both their minds and bodies. For this, they constantly suffered harassment, threats, ransacking of their homes, unemployment, arrest, slander and insults, illegal detention, brutal torture, and finally death.

The Following are Several Detailed Reports:

Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Cheng Jingshan, a Sixty-four-year-old Farmer from Luancheng County, Hebei Province, Dies As a Result of Torture

(See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/1/27/56944.html)

Mr. Cheng Jingshan was a 64-year-old farmer from Guyi Village, Liulintun Town, Luancheng County, Hebei Province. Before he began to practice Falun Gong, he suffered from many diseases. He had gastritis and the upper part of his digestive tract bled for over 10 years. His condition did not improve, although he took medicine all the time. He had sciatica and pain in his legs, and he had to wear cotton-padded trousers all year long in order to stay warm. The joints on his hands were severely disfigured. After he started to cultivate Falun Gong, Mr. Cheng gradually regained his health.

After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, this older man went to appeal in Beijing many times, clarifying the truth to people. The perpetrators arrested him and escorted him back to his village, and then detained him in the local detention centers, and other places such as the home for the elderly. In the detention centers, the persecutors beat Mr. Cheng, physically punished him, put handcuffs and shackles on him, and force-fed him when he went on hunger strikes in protest of the illegal detention and abuse.

In August 2000, inside a home for the elderly, which was used as a "jail" by some corrupt township government officials, the mayor of the town, Wang Shuzhong, ordered some ruffians to beat Cheng Jingshan. The torture lasted from dinnertime until 11 p.m. Li, head of the Township Land Management Station jabbed Mr. Cheng's sides and abdomen with two sharp tips from a bamboo broom. He then ordered Mr. Cheng to stand up and kicked his legs hard. As a result, the muscle on Mr. Cheng's left leg near the knee was damaged, and he limped for a long time.

On September 19, 2001, the persecutors sentenced Cheng Jingshan to 3 years of forced labor and sent him to Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp. In the labor camp, the persecutors beat Mr. Cheng, deprived him of sleep, forced him to stand still or squat for a long time, shocked him with electric batons, tortured him with "Tying the Ropes" [the perpetrators tie up the practitioner with a thin rope, circle the rope around his neck, and tie his hands behind his back], and force-fed him when he went on hunger strikes.

After going through 28 months of torture, the elderly man was released at the end of 2003. He then rented a room in Nanguan Village, Luancheng County and started his own small business. On the night of April 7, 2004, when he was distributing truth-clarifying materials, a villager named Zhao Lipo reported him to the police. Several police officers arrested and beat Mr. Cheng, and then detained him in the Luancheng County Detention Center. Cheng' Jingshan s face was severely disfigured from the beating. Subsequently, he was transferred to a brainwashing center in Shijiazhuang City, and then sent to a forced labor camp for another 3-year term.

During his detention in the detention centers and forced labor camp, Cheng Jingshan had always protested the persecution by going on hunger strikes. When he was tortured and close to death's door, and he was barely conscious, his family members were allowed to carry him home. A subsequent medical exam showed that because of the severe torture, blood had accumulated inside Mr. Cheng's brain. Because of the brain damage, Mr. Cheng's mind was not clear. As if all of this was not enough, the unlawful persecutors continued to harass him. On January 11, 2005, Cheng Jingshan passed away.

Ms. Li Haiyan from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Dies from Persecution, Her Mother Died from the Persecution in 2002

(See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/1/22/56795.html and http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2003/10/2/40888.html)

Ms. Li Haiyan was a Falun Dafa practitioner from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Because she was a determined practitioner who clarified the truth to people, she was arrested and tortured several times. On May 19, 2002, a Falun Dafa materials production center in Dageqi City, Heilongjiang Province was raided and destroyed by police. Ms. Li was arrested there, and was sentenced to thirteen years in the Harbin Women's Prison. She was inhumanly tortured there, and contracted pulmonary tuberculosis. She died at around 4 a.m. on January 13, 2005. By 9 a.m. of the same day, policewoman Zhang Xiling and the neighborhood administration chair hurriedly took her body away to be cremated.

Before she started practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Li Haiyan's mother, Yu Xiulan, used to suffer from severe arterial inflammation. Her legs were in so much pain that she was often bedridden. The problem could not be cured even after many years of hospitalization. Just when the pain was so severe that she'd almost lost the will to live, Yu Xiulan was fortunate to discover Falun Dafa in 1999. When she began practicing Falun Gong, her health was quickly recovered. The arterial inflammation that she had suffered from for so many years disappeared. It was Falun Dafa that gave her a healthy life.

After the persecution started, Ms. Yu insisted on practicing the exercises and refused to write a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Dafa. She also continually clarified the truth to the public deceived by Jiang's regime, and as a result was arrested several times. On November 12, 2001, Ms. Yu was arrested at her home by Bai Li, head of the Zhongyang Street Police Station in Dayangshu Town, and Liu Changxiao and Peng, officials in charge of the local residential area. She had been held for an extended period of time at the Elunchun Autonomous Banner No. 2 Detention Center. Other officials who directly participated in the persecution against her include Li Shuliang, deputy head of the police department, Li Benxue, head of security section, and Xu Changfa, officer of internal affairs at the Zhongyang Street Police Station.

Later, Ms. Yu was illegally sentenced for three years in Baoanzhao Women's Prison. Ms. Yu Xiulan insisted on studying the Fa and doing the Falun Dafa exercises, so the police kept her isolated from other practitioners in a closed room so she could not positively affect others in the prison. Yu Xiulan began a hunger strike which spanned over 50 days, to protest her persecution. She was no more than skin and bones and developed symptoms of thrombosis. Her family asked for her medical parole, but was rejected by the prison authorities. Ms Yu Xiulan died on December 22, 2002.

Ms. Li Haiyan's father, Mr. Li Jinrong, also went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and was illegally detained in the Beijing liaison office of Inner Mongolia. He later escaped with righteous thoughts. In order to avoid further persecution, he had to become homeless. The Dayangshu policemen could not find Mr. Li Jinrong, so they detained his eldest son in the detention center as a hostage; his son did not even practice Falun Gong. After learning the news, Li Jinrong went back to ask for the release of his son, and was thus captured by the police. His son was released after being held for 15 days, but Mr. Li wasn't set free until 8 months later, and only then after his family continually demanded his release. After his release, Li Jinrong was detained again for fifteen months for allegedly handing out Falun Dafa materials.

Hunan Province Practitioner Ms. Lu Yongzhen is Tied up, Beaten and Publicly Humiliated While Being Driven around Town in a Truck

(See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/1/30/57036.html)

Ms. Lu Yongzhen, 63, was a Falun Dafa practitioner employed by the Jin City Paint Factory in Changde, Hunan Province. She went to Beijing twice to peacefully appeal for Falun Gong and was twice sentenced to forced labor and cruelly beaten numerous times.

On February 25, 2000, Ms. Lu went to Beijing to appeal for the first time. She was tied up and brutally beaten while being held at the detention center for over nine months. On December 27, 2000, Ms. Lu went to Beijing again and was arrested and taken back to Jin City. The same night that she was taken back to the detention center in Jin City, the police officers tied her up and physically abused her for over six hours. The officers even stepped on her head. The marks left by the ropes were clearly visible on her body for many days afterwards.

On March 25, 2001, Ms. Lu and fifteen other Falun Gong practitioners were placed on a big truck. Eleven police vehicles made up the motorcade, with large signs reading, "Disruption of social order," hung on the practitioners' necks. The Falun Gong practitioners were also humiliated by inmates convicted of criminal offenses. On April 2, Lu Yongzhen was sentenced to one year of forced labor and was sent to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province.

After her release, Ms. Lu Yongzhen remained under constant harassment. Officers Zhou Rending, Lei Minzhu, Lu Pijie and officials from the Xiangyang Street Neighborhood Administration continued to carry out unwarranted searches of her home, extortion, abduction, and unlawful detention. During this period, Ms. Lu suffered serious injuries to her head as a result of police beatings. She died on October 8, 2004.

Innocent People Killed by Intentional, Inhumane Forced Feeding

During the five-plus years of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners, the systematic policy conceived and carried out by Jiang's regime was articulated as "destroying their reputation, cutting off their income sources, and eliminate them physically." This extermination order was issued to implement policies of genocide that included such stipulations as: "any death resulting from beating is to be accounted for as suicide" and "no identification of the corpse is needed in order to speed up immediate cremation," to prevent family members from seeing the cause of death. China's legal system has also engaged in the persecution, and attorneys have been prohibited from defending practitioners. Practitioners have been denied any legal or human rights. Under inhumane abuses in brainwashing centers, detention centers, labor camps, prisons, and all other public law-enforcement facilities, Falun Gong practitioners have had to resort to staging hunger strikes to protest the persecution and to make their voices heard. Police officers, members of the 610 Offices and other officials, driven by promise of rewards and backed by the government, have lost their basic human nature. They have resorted to inhumane forced feeding to torture practitioners on hunger strikes, which has resulted in a large number of death cases. The following are a few instances among the seventy-five death cases that were verified in January 2005.

Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Su Aigui from Hushi Town, Tianmen City, Hubei Province

(See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/1/15/56568.html)

Ms. Su Aigui, a 53-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from the Town of Hushi, in Tianmen City, Hubei Province, was twice abducted and taken to the Tianmen City Detention Center by the police. In 2003, afraid that Ms. Su had gone to Beijing to appeal during the Party's Sixteenth Congress, local police arrested her for the second time, despite the fact that she had to take care of her 90-year-old grandmother and 70-year-old mother. Her husband had been sent to labor camp already for practicing Falun Gong. Her children were sent out of town to work at odd jobs.

During her 9-day hunger strike, Su Aigui was force-fed vinegar with hot peppers by detention center guards continuously for 6 days. Finally, the doctor at the detention center realized that Ms. Su was near death. Not wanting to take responsibility, the authorities had prison staff carry her home. After she got home, Ms. Su had difficulty eating due to the torture she received in the detention center and she remained very weak. Su Aigui passed away on January 7, 2005.

Practitioner Ms. Liu Caiying from Weihai City, Shandong Province

(See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/1/21/56773.html)

Ms. Liu Caiying, 48 years of age, was arrested when posting Falun Dafa banners, and detained by the local 610 Office. She went on hunger strike to protest the persecution, and was handcuffed outdoors onto an iron chair. (The chair is made of metal pipes. Victims are restrained on the iron chairs with both arms and legs tied for a long period of time. See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2002/1/9/17577.html for more information.) Suffering from hunger and cold, her buttocks developed bloody blisters. Eventually Ms. Liu became emaciated. She often vomited blood due to brutal force-feeding. The prison doctor requested that the 610 Office release her, but this was rejected.

One month later, Liu Caiying was close to death. The guards were afraid of being held responsible, so they released her. Since her stomach was damaged by forced-feeding, Ms. Liu could not eat anything after she returned home. She was sent to the hospital, but it was too late. Liu Caiying died on October 5, 2003.

Ms. Li Guimin of Yi County, Hebei Province

(See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/1/8/56364.html)

Practitioner Ms. Li Guimin lived on Neijia Street of Yi County, Hebei Province. In 2001, she was illegally sentenced to 8 years in prison. While in detention, Ms. Li went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal incarceration. The guards, led by the detention center director Liu Jinyou, brutally force-fed her by pouring food directly into her mouth. The food was inhaled into her lungs. The police didn't stop their brutal acts until her lungs bled and she passed out. Only then did they send her to the county hospital. Ms. Li died in the hospital on March 1, 2002. When she died, blood was oozing from her nose and mouth.

Li Guimin's husband Mr. Cui is not a practitioner. However, he was detained for 15 days and fined 6,000 yuan in 2001 for helping a Falun Gong practitioner who was on the police's "wanted list" to escape. In the spring of 2002, Mr. Cui went to Taiyuan City in Shanxi Province to claim money owed to him. Because the other party refused to pay him, he had a quarrel with them. As a result, he was detained by the Taiyuan Police Department and fined 10,000 yuan. Since he couldn't afford to pay the fine, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

With their mother dead and their father detained, Li Guimin's two young children became orphaned. One of the couple's relatives adopted the two children.

The Elderly Are Not Spared the Genocidal Persecution

The following are examples of the persecution of elderly Falun Dafa practitioners.

Ms. Li Xiuying, 82, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province

(See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/1/29/56995.html)

Ms. Li Xiuying was 82 years old and lived at 26 Madaodi, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. She used to suffer from multiple diseases, which were all cured after practicing Falun Dafa beginning in 1997. When the persecution against Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, Ms. Li went with her daughter to Beijing to validate the Fa. They were arrested in Beijing, interrogated, and sent back to Baoding City, Hebei Province, the very same night. They were detained for 24 hours. At 3 p.m. on the afternoon of July 24, 1999, armed police surrounded them. Four policemen dragged Li Xiuying and her daughter into a police vehicle and sent them back to the police station in Shalingzi Town, Zhangjiakou City.

Later, Ms. Li Xiuying was locked up in a brainwashing class held in the Jianguolu Elementary School. The Qiaodong District Commissioner, the head of the 610 Office and Qiaodong Neighborhood Office workers tried to force her to give up her practice of Falun Dafa. They forced her to stand for a very long time. After releasing Ms. Li and letting her go home, her daughter was repeatedly arrested, detained, and harassed because she continued to validate Falun Dafa. Ms. Li Xiuying was so worried for her daughter that she became sick and died on October 9, 2001.

Ms. Luo Bu-e from Xizhou City, Shanxi Province

(See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/1/29/56994.html)

Ms. Luo Bu-e was 73 years old. She started practicing Falun Dafa in June 1998. Ms. Luo previously had arthritis with shoulder pain, which made movement difficult. She constantly had fever and flu-like symptoms, and often visited the doctor. After practicing Falun Dafa, Ms. Luo regained her health and did not need to take any medication. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, the village's police constantly harassed and threatened Ms. Luo at her home, causing severe damage to her mental state.

After October 2000, because her son and daughter both firmly cultivated Falun Dafa and clarified the truth, their home was ransacked. Her children were detained and sentenced to a labor camp and prison. During that difficult period, Ms. Luo was very worried for her children. She was frightened for their safety and missed them very much. She lost weight and strength, and suffered from shortness of breath. Doctors found that she had late stage lung cancer, with fluid in her lungs. Ms. Luo Bu-e died on December 17, 2003, at 11 a.m.

Ms. Sun Yazhi, 86, from Fushun City, Liaoning Province

(See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/1/30/57022.html)

Ms. Sun Yazhi was an 86-year-old resident of Jiangjun Street, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. She was a retired teacher from Xintun Primary School. Ms. Sun started to practice Falun Dafa in the beginning of 1998. In 2002, police officers from the local police station and the Political and Judiciary Committee went to her home many times to arrest Ms. Sun's daughter who also practiced Falun Dafa. Sun Yazhi was distressed by the harassment and as a result, suffered a relapse of her old diseases. She died on November 6, 2002.

Ms. Wang Shanling, 68-year-old Falun Gong Practitioner from Jilin

(See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/1/17/56636.html)

Ms. Wang Shanling lived in the Songjianghe Forest Bureau Complex in Wusong County, Jilin Province. At age 61, she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and two bouts of cerebral thrombosis. She became partially paralyzed. However, three days after she began to practice Falun Dafa, her hands regained their feeling; a few days later, she could walk again. All of her illnesses quickly disappeared. Since then, Mrs. Wang had not needed to take any medicine.

At nine in the morning on March 5, 2004, Zhang Enge and Yu Shoutao from the local police station ransacked Mrs. Wang's house because she was a Falun Dafa practitioner. Ms. Wang tried to clarify the facts and warned them, "You will suffer retribution if you keep on persecuting Falun Dafa." Zhang Enge retorted, "I would rather get run over by a car than stop searching your house." The police took away all of Ms. Wang's Falun Dafa materials and arrested her. Then they extorted 2,000 yuan from her for bail.

When Ms. Wang returned home that night, her home was in disarray. She said to herself, "What kind of a society is this now? Where's the hope for ordinary people? How come it's so difficult to be a good person? If I did not learn Falun Gong, I would have died a long time ago and would not have brought that much trouble to my children." She burst into tears. After that day, Wang's Shanling old illnesses resurged. She became paralyzed again. Nonetheless, Zhang Enge, the main perpetrator, frequently came to Ms. Wang's home to threaten her. Under such intense persecution, Ms. Wang Shanling passed away on January 3, 2005.

Ms. Han Shumin from Qingshan Township in Boli County, Heilongjiang Province

(See http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2005/1/31/57067.html)

Ms. Han Shumin, 68 years old, lived in Taisheng Village of Qingshan Township in Boli County, Heilongjiang Province. After practicing Falun Dafa, various chronic diseases that she previously suffered from, such as intestinal inflammation, hepatitis, gallstones, inflammation of the vertebrae, and coronary heart disease all disappeared.

Since Ms. Han knew how great Dafa is, she often told her relatives and friends about the wonders of Dafa. She clarified the facts and distributed flyers. The police and other lawless people often went to her home to harass and intimidate her, and she felt extremely pressured. On March 18, 2003, Han Shumin was in her daughter's home when police jumped into their yard from a neighbor's home. They shouted and tried to break into the house. The elderly woman was frightened and fell to the floor. She lay there for more than an hour and could not get up. After this incident, Ms. Han's health deteriorated rapidly, and she died on April 22, 2004.

****

Each of these cases constitutes a grave injustice, subject to the heavenly law that good is rewarded with good and evil meets with karmic retribution. The perpetrators of these crimes will not escape their enormous karmic debt. Every single debt of blood that the Chinese Communist Party and Jiang's regime has accrued in its genocide against Falun Gong will be repaid. This day of reckoning draws closer and closer.
