Twenty Practitioners Arrested; Seven Sentenced to a Labor Camp in Anqiu City, Shandong Province

May 18, 2005

(Clearwisdom.net) Starting around 5:30 a.m. on March 15, 2005, and continuing on March 16, the police ransacked the homes of all practitioners in Anqiu City, Shandong Province. By the evening of March 16, at least twenty practitioners had been arrested and sent to the detention center to be persecuted. On April 17, seven practitioners including Sun Yezhi, Zhang Fengfu and Wang Jinyi were taken to the Wangcun Labor Camp in Shandong Province for further persecution.

Though the police extorted money from several of the practitioners' relatives in exchange for the practitioner's release, only three of the practitioners were released. The rest were persecuted in the detention center. The amount of money that the Anqiu City police extorted from the practitioners' relatives was very large.

Mr. Wang Jinyi is a 38-year-old farmer from Dianzi Village in Wushan County, Anqiu City. Because Mr. Wang strongly believed in "Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance," he went to Beijing to clarify the truth and validate Falun Dafa. In July 2001, he was arrested and sent to the Weifeng Labor Camp to serve a three-year term. After being released, the police continuously came to his home to bother and harass him and his relatives.

Mr. Sun Yezhi is a 40-year-old farmer living in Linghe Village in Linghe County, Anqiu City. In November 2000, Mr. Sun was sent to the Weifeng Labor Camp to serve a three-year term. While in the labor camp, he persisted in his belief in "Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance." He resisted the policemen's persecution, while enduring brutal beatings, forced brainwashing and slave labor. Furthermore, his sentence was extended for three additional months. Finally at the end of 2003, he was released from the labor camp.

Mr. Zhang Fengfu, is a 50-year-old farmer from Linghe Village in Linghe County, Anqiu City. Around 5:30 a.m. on March 15, 2005, several Linghe County policemen (including Li Fangkai and an officer surnamed Zhang) broke into three Falun Gong practitioners' homes without showing any legal documents. The police forcibly ransacked their homes and sent the practitioners to the Anqiu City Detention Center. Later, the police forced Mr. Zhang's family to pay fifteen thousand yuan in exchange for the practitioner's freedom; they threatened to send him to a labor camp if the family did not pay. On April 17, 2005, these three practitioners were arrested and sent to the Wangcun Labor Camp in Shandong Province where they were persecuted further.
