Practitioners in Shenyang City Urged to Rescue Jing Yu

May 23, 2005

(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Jing Yu, 32, from Shenyang City, has been illegally imprisoned in Liaoyang Huazi Prison. He has been suffering from the long-term persecution, and therefore he has the symptoms of severe pulmonary tuberculosis, and coughs up blood. At present, his body is extremely weak.

Huazi Prison's guards often incite criminals to beat Falun Gong practitioners, and they also detain parcels and mail from practitioners' families. In order to block the truth of how practitioners have been physically tortured from being exposed to the outside world, the prison does not allow practitioners' families to have meals with them when they come to visit practitioners (this is allowed for ordinary criminals). Dafa practitioners have to communicate through the glass using the intercom. They are only allowed to talk about family matters. They are prohibited from talking about things that happen inside the prison, and neither are they allowed to talk about any matters relating to Dafa. Behind each practitioner there always stands a criminal who is assigned to monitor the practitioner's conversation. Even the practitioner's gestures and facial expressions are monitored. The nearby room is also equipped with facilities used for monitoring and watching every word and inflection. If the prison guards find anything they believe to be inappropriate, they immediately stop the conversation.

The practitioners imprisoned in this prison have to do an excessive amount of slave labor, including manual labor and outside service, etc. The manual labor mainly involves jobs such as making handicrafts, as well as sewing. They usually have to work long hours, until midnight. The outside service mainly includes cement production (at Huazi New Life Cement Plant). All of the Falun Gong practitioners are imprisoned in the third ward, where the prison guards specially manage Falun Gong. The prison guards do not have to take orders from prison authorities. Although it is inside the Huazi Prison, it is actually an independent clique directly affiliated with the 610 Office. They carry on a secret persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. There are small cells, and detention rooms. The guards often force the criminals to beat up, and physically torture practitioners, sometimes even using electric batons to shock practitioners. In September 2004, practitioner Fan Xuejun from Huanggu District in Shenyang City was tortured to death. Zhou Dewei, an engineer, who was released on bail for medical treatment, died in October 2004.

Mr. Jing Yu started practicing Falun Gong in late 2000 and early 2001, when the Chinese Communist Party's persecution against Falun Gong was at its climax. He truly became a Dafa cultivator in the summer of 2001. In 2000, Jing Yu's mother and sister, already practitioners by then, introduced Falun Gong to him. They hoped that he would start cultivating. However, at that time, his whole mind was occupied with the pursuit of making money, and he had no interest in cultivation at all.

At that time, the entire nation started to persecute Falun Gong. Jing Yu's neighborhood association, the local Political and Legal Bureau, Public Security Station, and the other government offices together arrested his mother and sister. Afterwards, they ransacked their home and confiscated their personal property, including all of their Dafa books and related publications. His second elder sister was not at home then, therefore she was not arrested. Subsequently, she had to leave their home and become homeless to avoid being abducted. After this incident, he started thinking deeply about Falun Gong and the Chinese Communist Party's inhumane suppression against these kind-hearted people. Even his honest and kind mother and sister were put in jail. What went wrong? After thinking it over, he decided to practice Falun Gong.

On National Day in 2001, the local police station, along with Yuhong District Huanghai Police Station police, suddenly came to his home in the evening. He refused to open the door for the police. The police then broke into his house and arbitrarily searched and examined the rooms. They thought that his sister would be at home hiding. Failing to find his sister, they unexpectedly abducted Jing Yu to the local police station and illegally interrogated him. They tried to force him to tell them his homeless sister's whereabouts, and whether he was in contact with other Falun Gong practitioners. Jing said that he did not know anything. Therefore, he was brutally beaten by the police. At that time, the head of the local police station was also present. After being detained for two days, he was imprisoned for 15 days at the Fangjialan City Detention Center for "disrupting the social order," a crime that he did not commit.

After being mercilessly beaten, Jing Yu started to cough constantly every day, and his ribs and chest ached. Afterwards he went to Yuhong Hospital for an X-ray, which showed that two of his ribs were fractured and had punctured his lungs. It created a pulmonary cyst, and the treatment would cost at least 3,000 to 4,000 yuan. Because his family members were constantly arrested, detained, fined, and had lost their jobs, they were in an exceptionally difficult financial situation. Because of this, Jing had to be strong. To survive, he had to go out and make money. During the daytime he delivered mineral water to households, and in the evenings he delivered milk. He still needed to save money and time to deposit money and take clothes to his mother imprisoned in Fangjialan Detention Center, and sister imprisoned in the Municipal Detention Center, located to the north of Sujiatun. At the same time, he kept wondering about his other sister's whereabouts.

Under this kind of difficult situation, his lung condition deteriorated. He became very slim and he coughed all day long. Afterwards his mother was sentenced to three years of forced labor, and was imprisoned in the Longshan Forced Labor Camp. His sister was released on bail for medical treatment after having gone on a hunger strike. Later, they also found their homeless sister. Because the persecution still continued, the three of them were unable to go to their house together. With some kind-hearted people's help, they rented a room. In order to stop this meaningless and evil persecution, the three of them continued to expose the evil by telling people the truth of Falun Gong.

Under the unceasing pressure of Jiang's regime, the entire country continued to persecute Falun Gong. There were always some corrupt police who abandoned their conscience, morality, and justice to gain personal benefits. They were willing to help the tyrant do evil deeds, and blindly followed the Jiang and Luo criminal group. In March 2002, the three of them were arrested at the rental place, and were detained in the Municipal Detention Center. That evening, a young policeman was on duty. He asked if any of them had any illnesses. Jing Yu told him immediately he had a pulmonary cyst. Yet the officer replied without sparing a glance, "No problem. You won't die. Go in there."

Afterwards, when the Municipal Detention Center personnel noticed that Jing Yu's illness had deteriorated, they sent him to the Criminal Supervising Hospital, which is affiliated with the Municipal Public Security Bureau. Actually, everyone including the police knows that these criminal hospitals, jail hospitals, and labor camp hospitals' medical conditions are incomparable with that of the local hospitals. These hospitals cannot treat serious illnesses at all.

At the end of October 2002, Jing Yu was illegally sentenced to 10 years in prison. When he was imprisoned, his pulmonary tuberculosis had already deteriorated, and his physical condition was not fit for being imprisoned. When he was hospitalized in the Criminal Supervising Hospital, to resist the illegal persecution against him, he went on a hunger strike for as long as 8 months. His physical condition suffered more serious damage.

Between November and December of 2003, when the Shenyang Dabei Prison was moving to Pingluo Prison City, Shenyang Municipal Detention Center claimed that their medical equipment was not sufficient. Therefore, they covered up Jing's physical condition and forcibly put him in jail. In December 2003, they imprisoned Jing in Shenyang Prison, and then transferred him to the Liaoyang No. 1 Prison (also known as Huazi Prison). After they discovered his physical condition, Huazi prison put Jing in the prison health center. However, his tuberculosis had further worsened. During Chinese New Year day of 2005, he coughed blood, the tuberculosis was very serious, and his body was extremely weak. He looked very pale and he was becoming extremely thin. Jing Yu and his family members strongly requested that the prison release Jing as soon as possible so he could get proper medical treatment. He is innocent after all.

In the forced labor camp, Jing's mother suffered from persecution. Under the enormously heavy physical and mental pressure, she suffered from a sudden stroke, and diabetes. Her right eye lost sight, and her left eye had 0.2 vision. She relied on others to help her with her daily routine.

Hereby, we ask that local practitioners offer their assistance to help Jing return home. In the meantime, we hope that fellow practitioners will send forth righteous thoughts, write letters, call, and use legal means to rescue Jing, and to restore justice to human society.
