Facts of the Persecution
1. Officials from Qi Town and Mei County in Shaanxi Province Persecute Dafa Practitioners
In mid April 2004, Liu, the Party Secretary of Qi Town in Mei County led people from the Qi Town 610 Office and from the police station to climb over the walls and break into Falun Gong practitioners' homes. Four practitioners who were working in the fields were then arrested and sent to a forced brainwashing center called the Baojixia Employee's Training Center in Dianzi Street, Baoji City.
Late at night on December 7, 2004, Xu Youping, an officer from the Politics and Security Section of the Mei County Police Department led eight other officers to Nanzhai Village, Qi Town where they ransacked the home of practitioner Ms. Xu Xiqian, around 55 years of age, and arrested her. They held her for several months and then sent her to the Shaanxi Province Female Labor Camp. The labor camp authorities refused to accept her because her blood pressure was 180.
At midnight on December 7, 2004, the same people broke into the home of practitioner Mr. Wang Zhouyi, a retired worker. They searched him and took him to the Qi Town Police Station. Two days later they sent him to the Miliang Hotel in Tangyu, Mei County, where they handcuffed him for 15 days and didn't allow him to sleep. On January 24, 2005, they again sent him to the Miliang Hotel in Tangyu where they held him for 10 days, during which time they slapped, verbally abused and beat him. On March 9, 2005, they sent Mr. Wang to Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp in Shaanxi Province for one year.

2. Persecution at the Suining Forced Brainwashing Center in Jiangsu Province
In early 2001, the officials from the Xuzhou City 610 Office set up a brainwashing center in Pinglou Township, Suining County. They arrested several practitioners and transferred certain practitioners from other brainwashing centers. Some were brought there from labor camps after their terms had expired, and some were transferred from mental hospitals. At this brainwashing center, the practitioners are monitored around the clock in small rooms. During more than one year of detention they were only permitted one shower. The guards handcuffed and shackled the practitioners. The shackles and handcuffs were connected with a metal chain less than 50 cm in length (about 12 inches), so the practitioner could neither stand nor walk. It was extremely difficult for them to move. The practitioners were also forced to sit in an iron chair and even had to relieve themselves there.
Some practitioners were tortured in this chair for 18 days in a row, during which time they were forbidden to sleep. In addition, guards hit practitioners' fingers and toes with wooden sticks covered with nails until their hands and feet were covered in blood. Some practitioners were injected with psychotic drugs, making their hands tremble; they lost their memories and could not stand up. Some practitioners lost consciousness, while others were tortured until they were extremely weak and had blurred vision.
Those practitioners who held a hunger strike to protest the persecution were violently beaten. Practitioner Yuan Ling was beaten until she could not open her eyes, which were filled with blood and her eyesight declined drastically. Practitioner Jia Huili was beaten and could not walk for half a month. Some practitioners were tied to a tree with their hands behind their backs, and some were handcuffed to a doorframe. Practitioner Ms. Bian Guiju was handcuffed to a metal window during the day and handcuffed to the head of the bed at night. Her feet were affixed to the end of the bed and she was tortured all year long. She can no longer walk. The guards threatened to further torture her despite her condition.
Practitioner Mr. Wei Xingshe refused to renounce his belief, so the guards tied his hands behind his back and beat him all over with a rubber club. After Mr. Wei passed out, the perpetrators poured cold water over him until he came to. Then they continued to torture him until he lost consciousness again. They handcuffed his hands behind his back and to the floor rings, and his feet rubbed back and forth against the floor until they bled profusely. After he returned to his cell he was handcuffed to the bed for a whole night. As a result of the torture, he could not get out of bed for more than 20 days. One year later his arms were still sore and the scars were still clearly visible on his legs.

3. Persecution of practitioner He Rongmiao from Zhuozhou, Hebei Province
Practitioner Ms. He Rongmiao from Zhuozhou went to Beijing to appeal in 1999. She was held at a county detention center for two months, during which time she was inhumanely tortured. Between 1999 and 2002, the perpetrators fined Ms. He over 16,000 yuan, not including "gifts" that they extorted from her. In 2002, Ms. He was sent to a brainwashing center. She held a hunger strike; the police shocked her body with electric batons and beat her with spiked clubs until her body was covered with bruises. Then the police officers handcuffed her to a metal chair; they pried open her mouth with a metal strip, inserted a thick force-feeding tube into her throat and force-fed her spoiled, sour porridge.
