Proclamation of Falun Dafa Week, City of Easton, Pennsylvania [June 11, 2005]

Mitman, Mayor of the City of Easton, Pennsylvania, commended the individuals practicing Falun Dafa for seeking to enrich their lives and for peacefully resisting an unjust violation of their human rights, urged the People's Republic of China to immediately cease persecution of Falun Dafa, and proclaimed the week of June 6 through June 12, 2005, as Falun Dafa Week in the City of Easton.

Millions of people in over 40 countries have obtained improved health, newfound energy, mental clarity, and peace of mind as a result of practicing Falun Dafa.

Whereas: Falun Dafa also known as Falun Gong, is an advanced self-cultivating practices that refines the mind and body through special exercise, meditation and the three fundamental principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance; and

Whereas: the People's Republic of China has executed an unjust and brutal crackdown on the practitioners of Falun Dafa; and

Whereas: the detainment, torture and execution of Falun Dafa practitioners violates the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; and

Whereas: Falun Dafa's great contributions to Pennsylvania have been widely recognized by governmental leaders throughout the state.

Now, therefore, I, Philip B. Mitman, Mayor of the City of Easton, Pennsylvania, hereby commend the individuals practicing Falun Dafa for seeking to enrich their lives and for peacefully resisting an unjust violation of their human rights; and urges the People's Republic of China to immediately cease persecution of Falun Dafa and hereby proclaim during this week of June 6 through June 12, 2005 by presenting this Proclamation of Inspiration as,
