The Importance of Being Organized

Dec. 26, 2006

(Clearwisdom.net) Some people are so disorganized that, although they work really hard trying to get things done, they fail to accomplish even one task.

At work, some programmers produce very neat codes that are tidy and easy to read, whereas the work of other programmers is like a web with piles of incoherent codes that are totally incomprehensible.

A drop of water can reflect the rays of the sun and a drop of blood can reveal the state of a person's health. Those who are organized have a clear goal and clear thoughts, which is reflected in their lives. They do things methodically, they dress appropriately, and their living environment is neat and tidy. If you use their computer, you will find that all files are well-organized, making it easy to look for anything.

Our society is also an organized body. Let us imagine what society would be like if it were disorderly.

For example, good works of art can be appreciated by both educated and uneducated people. Because we are all human, we can appreciate what is aesthetically pleasing. Even laymen can appreciate lines, silhouettes, and coordinated colors. On the other hand, so-called modern art, with a few circles, a few dots, and some smudges placed in a chaotic manner, is often not aesthetically pleasing and makes no sense.

Let's look at calligraphy. We can feel the inner world of a person from his handwriting. Whether calligraphy demonstrates strength or elegance, it has to be neat and tidy in order to be good. Mao Zedong's wild style of calligraphy, which was admired by many, reflects his arrogance and innate impulse to break all order in the world.

Those with medical knowledge know that normal, healthy cells are orderly, whereas cancerous cells are chaotic. In other words, if certain mechanisms in the human body are damaged and repressed, they cannot organize and manage themselves anymore. It is like a environment where nature used to thrive and flourish but was overdeveloped by human beings and as a result lost its original beauty.

Without organization, it is hard to accomplish anything. When people think in a roundabout way, without speaking their minds and without being trustworthy or considerate, it is impossible to get many things done efficiently. As cultivators, it is important that we know our true selves. We have to be very clear about whether our thoughts are our true thinking or thought karma. Failing that, we will not be able to forge ahead.

As cultivators, we come across all kinds of things in our daily lives and at work. We need to set priorities and break them down into manageable parts and finish them one by one, without being influenced by all sorts of interference.

It is impossible for a human being to create something by him or herself. All whims and attempts at shortcuts are futile. Cultivators need to have a strong will. If we read Dafa books every day, we are no longer the same person as the previous day. When we do things in an organized manner, our confidence will increase. Although it may seem to be routine and simple, the greatness will come through.
