Feb. 21, 2006

(Clearwisdom.net) A resolution was passed by the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly on January 25, 2006. The chairman of the Christian Democrats, the Chairman of the Political Committee of Standing Committee in the Council of Europe and a Belgian parliamentarian Mr. Luc Van den Grande stated the significance of this resolution.

Belgian parliamentarian Luc Van den Brande

Mr. Luc Van den Brande said in his address that this is the first resolution passed by the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly to condemn crimes committed by Communist totalitarian regimes, and the result is full of profound implication. Not only is it the moral guide for forty-six member states of the Council of Europe, but it also beefs up the understanding of the crimes that Communist dictatorships committed to the public. Hence to pass this resolution is essential and also necessary to the Council of Europe.

Mr. Van den Brande indicated that this resolution is not only to condemn Communist totalitarian regimes, but also to respect victims killed by Communist dictatorships. It would lead people to review our history more and to review the damages caused by Communist totalitarianism all over the world. Thus to pass this resolution was not only important, but would guide people in better protecting every person's fundamental human rights in the future. Everyone is unique with different characteristics, no matter a person is male or female.

Mr. Van den Brande concluded by saying that to pass this resolution is just a beginning. He believes more supportive reports will be offered by his colleagues in the near future, to help more people to recognize the vicious nature and crimes of Communist totalitarianism.
