Germany: Foreign Ministry Claims That Human Rights Will be Raised During Foreign Minister's Visit to China

Feb. 21, 2006 |   By a practitioner in Germany

(Clearwisdom.net) The German Foreign Ministry wrote back to Falun Gong practitioners prior to Foreign Minister Steinmeier's visit to China and expressed that the Minister would raise China's serious human rights situation.

Falun Gong practitioners had written to seek support from Federal Foreign Minister Mr. Steinmeier regarding the incident of Jiang Renzheng. In March 2005, due to wrong judgment, the German authorities denied application for political asylum and repatriated Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Renzheng, his wife Guo Rui and their two children. One month later, Jiang Renzheng was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor. He is currently under house arrest.

The Foreign Ministry wrote in its reply to Falun Gong practitioners, "Just as you have learned previously from the Foreign Ministry, including correspondence with Mr. Tom Koenig, human rights commissioner, the Federal Government engages in canceling the punishment to Mr. Jiang and tries all possible means to secure his and his family's return to Germany while associating with the Chinese government."

The letter also guarantees that China's serious human rights condition will also be a topic for discussion during Foreign Minister Stenmeier's visit to China.
