The Relentless Persecution of Dafa Practitioner Li Xinglian

Feb. 5, 2006 |   Written by a Dafa practitioner from Sichuan Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Li Xinglian, 66 years old, is a retired worker. She lived in the dormitory of the Communist Party Committee and the city government of Suining City, Sichuan Province (Yucai Road #26). Since the Communist regime launched the cruel persecution against Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Ms. Li has suffered from relentless persecution.

Before Ms. Li started to practice Falun Gong, she suffered from many diseases such as nephritis, hypertension, stomach illness, serious rheumatism, intestinal illness, Menill's syndrome and depression. In addition, her husband Mr. Chen Shenggen, a former governmental official, died in 1994. The mental trauma resulting from her husband's death caused Ms. Li's condition to further deteriorate. As a result, she became unable to support herself and lost her interest in living.

Fortunately, in 1996, Ms. Li discovered Falun Dafa and started to conduct herself according to the principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" taught by the Teacher of Falun Gong. Miraculously, all of her diseases disappeared in less than two months and she could walk so comfortably that even some young persons could not keep up with her.

Ms. Li was targeted when the persecution against Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999.

On June 25, 2000, Li Xinglian went to Chuanshan Park to practice the Falun Gong exercises, for which the police illegally arrested her and detained her for two days. Later they extorted 10 yuan from her as a fee for her living in custody.

On July 24 of the same year, Ms. Li went to the Baique Temple to practice Falun Gong. There, police officers Xiao, Duan and Yang Renfang from the National Security Group arrested her. Ms. Li was sent to the Wujiawan Detention Center, where she was detained for 11 days and forced to pay 100-yuan as a fee for her living expenses there. She was also pressured to write a guarantee statement declaring that she would give up Falun Gong, but she refused to do so because she felt that Falun Gong had saved her life.

On September 26, 2002, the head of the Chengxi Police Station, Hu Shuangqing, along with policemen Tan Youyun and Tian Guilin, went to Ms. Li's home to arrest her. Without any legal documentation, they ransacked her home. During the arrest, the policemen handcuffed Ms. Li so violently that her hands were seriously injured and started to bleed. The scars remain to this day. The police tried to cover her mouth to stop her from speaking, and she suffered serious internal injury. The policemen threatened Li Xinglian openly, "Let's kill her, once and for all." The head of the police station, Hu Shuangqing, died in a traffic accident in October 2003, as a result of karmic retribution.

This time, the policemen took away Ms. Li's Falun Gong books and 6 audiotapes of music for the Falun Gong exercises. They also took 200 yuan that Ms. Li had left on a desk. During the whole process, they did not present any legal documents. They then sent Ms. Li to the Linquansi Detention Center, where she was held for one month. During the detention, Ms. Li was cruelly beaten and was not allowed to sleep. After she was released, the local residential committee demanded that she write a guarantee statement to denounce Falun Gong, but she refused. Then they dispatched some people to monitor her activities. In the past five years, more than 100 people have been dispatched to do this job.

In June 2003, Hu Shuangqing managed to arrest Ms. Li, by forcing her son Chen Hong to lead them to the homes of her parents, her parents-in-law and other relatives in order to locate and arrest her. They also slandered Ms. Li as an "anti-revolutionary," and threatened that her relatives and friends had to report to them as soon as they saw her. Otherwise, they would be implicated. Her friends and relatives were very distressed as a result of suffering through this ordeal.

On November 5, 2003, policemen Zhou Jian and Xu Xingming from the Chengxi Police Station and another person, Tian Guilin, went to Ms. Li's home to arrest her. They forced her to open her door, ransacked her home and carried her into their vehicle. Then they detained Ms. Li in the Linquansi Detention Center for 20 days and forced her family members to give them 2,000 yuan as a fine. They threatened that she would be sentenced to 2 years in prison. To prevent this from happening, her family members made a concession by inviting the policemen to dinner and giving them some money. Then Ms. Li was released home.

On February 17, 2004, the policemen once again tried to break into Li Xinglian's home, but Ms. Li refused to open the door. However, they never gave up their efforts to arrest her and went to her home to harass her on numerous occasions. Seeing no other options available to her, Ms. Li left home and became homeless so that she could not be located and arrested. She has not returned even to this day. During this time, the police and persons from the local residential committee have often tried to coax her into returning home, so they could arrest her again. Later, Wen Shiping, the director of the Gaosheng Street office of the local residential committee, threatened Ms. Li, saying that they would cancel her pension if she continued to stay away from home. Ms. Li knew that they were trying to trick her, so she did not dare go home. The authorities cancelled Ms. Li's pension in December 2004.
