Korea: Falun Gong Practitioners Harassed, Cursed, and Physically Attacked during Appeal at Singapore Embassy (Photos)

July 25, 2006

(Clearwisdom.net) Bowing to pressure from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), on July 14, 2006, the Singapore government charged nine local practitioners with "Illegal Assembly" for distributing truth-clarifying materials in subway stations and on a street last October.

On July 20, to call on the Singapore government to uphold justice and drop the charges, Korean Falun Gong practitioners held a protest and a candlelight vigil in front of the Singapore Embassy in Seoul. The embassy is located inside the "Finance Building". However, during the activity, the practitioners were harassed, cursed and physically attacked by staff members of the Singapore owned building.

On the afternoon of July 20, about 50 Korean Falun Gong practitioners protested the government’s unlawful charges against fellow practitioners in Singapore and delivered a petition.

As soon as the protest started, the practitioners were harassed by the "Finance Building" (owned by the Singapore Embassy) management staff, who also stole a microphone used for the event.

Later, a Korean Falun Gong spokesman tried to deliver a petition to the embassy. However, the building staff wouldn’t allow him in, alleging that someone would come out to receive the petition on behalf of the embassy. It is worth noting that the embassy is located at the 28th floor and the building is open to public. The practitioner told a reporter from the Epoch Times that he was trapped in a revolving door by building staff members when he tried to enter the building. The staff members even moved the door back and forth to hit him.

In the evening, the practitioners held a candlelight vigil in front of the building. Staff members of the building came out again and asked the practitioners to leave, alleging that the activity site is property of the building. When their request was declined, they threw practitioners posters to the ground and started to curse and physically assault the practitioners. When the practitioners called the police, those staff members returned to the building. The attack lasted about half an hour.

A coordinator of the Korean Falun Dafa Association stressed that the protest was completely legal. The spokesman of the association believed that the reaction of the building management staff was instigated by the Singapore Embassy and the purpose was to please the CCP.
