Canada: Practitioners Rally at Parliament Hill - MPs Come to Support

Sept. 27, 2006 |   By Ying Zhi, Minghui reporter

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 26, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners rallied in front of Parliament Hill in Canada, calling on the Canadian government and people to work together to stop the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) crimes of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. MPs including MP Irwin Cotler, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada will come to support and make speeches. Reuven Bulka, PhD of law, Chairman of the Organ Donation Committee of the Kidney Foundation for Eastern Ontario, will also make a speech at the rally.

Former Canadian Liberty Party government cabinet member and renowned Jewish scholar Reuven Bulka once wrote an article in the Ottawa Citizen on August 25, saying that the CCP harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners is "a human-rights breach of the worst order, and demands a response on the international level commensurate with the monstrous evil."

Bulka stated in his article, "People who are capable of these atrocities are not trustworthy. Promises that things are better are worthless. International oversight is an absolute must to ensure that this unspeakable horror stops."

Bulka suggested, "Governments must raise their collective voices in disgust at this, and condemn it in uncompromising terms. The traffic flow to China for these "procedures" needs to be stopped. We are capable of monitoring this if we set our minds to it. "

Bulka suggested to all groups and individuals, "Any muscle that we have, both collectively and individually, needs to be brought to bear in this fight." He said, "Governments should look at the propriety of any trade with China, and individuals should think about the morality of buying items that are made in China until this stops, with finality and with proof of same."

Bulka said, "The Olympics is the last stop in this process. That is a few years away, and the situation demands immediate and forceful attention. But if, God forbid, nothing happens between now and then, I cannot imagine that any self-respecting athlete would want to be involved in any activity, athletic or otherwise, that gives credibility, acceptability and respectability to a regime worthy of nothing more than utter contempt and revulsion."

In May this year, Canadian veteran MP David Kilgour and David Matas launched an independent investigation regarding the allegation on the CCP harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners nationwide. During this time, the Kilgour/Matas investigation team met with many victims and witnesses, and made an in-depth research. The two investigators published their investigative report on July 6 in Ottawa, through assessing the eighteen different kinds of evidence on the cases that "Each portion of the evidence ... is, in itself, verifiable, and, in most cases, incontestable," they concluded, "there has been and continues today to be large scale organ seizures from unwilling Falun Gong practitioners."

Hundreds of media in Canada have reported on the Kilgour/Matas report. To sustain international attention to this matter, Mr. Kilgour and Mr. Matas once jointly or separately visited the United Nations, Hong Kong, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, London, Washington, New York, Boston, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Finland and other places. In London, four times in a day, they went to the British Broadcasting Cooperation (BBC), that has about four hundred million listeners. In Australia, they were invited four times by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

Other than the support from Canadian MPs of different parties, the international attention has continuously increased, such as all-party support in Australia and Sweden. They call on the international community to investigate and help stop the crimes of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners in China.
