The Situation of Mr. Zhang Bofeng and Ms. Xu Qunyuan, Falun Gong Practitioners from Guangxi Province

Sept. 29, 2006

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Bofeng from Dongxing City, Guangxi Province was illegally sentenced to a labor camp on December 20, 2004. He is now detained in the Sixth Brigade of the 1st Station of the Guangxi District.

Since Mr. Zhang was sentenced, the camp staff have continuously refused to grant his family access to him. They come up with a different excuse each time the family tries to see him, such as that the camp leaders are on a meeting, etc. It has been almost two years since his family members have seen Mr. Zhang, and they are very anxious. They don't even know if he is still alive. The camp staff have never given them a clear explanation of Mr. Zhang's situation.

Ms. Xu Qunyuan, 39, lived at No. 54 Zhongliao Street, Dijiao Town, Beihai City, Guangxi Province. Because she persisted firmly in practicing Falun Dafa, she was sentenced many times to various forms of detention. Her house was searched, her property was confiscated, and her phone was monitored.

On July 22, 1999, the director of the Dijiao Town Police Station (who has since been transferred elsewhere), together with several policemen, went to various practice sites to record practitioners' names, threaten them and prohibit them from doing group study and exercises. On December 2, 1999, Xu Qunyuan was taken away by police while watching Teacher's lecture series together with other practitioners. She was taken to the Dijiao Town Police Station and detained there. She was then transferred to the 2nd Detention Center of Beihai City and was detained there for 10 days.

On May 4, 2000, Xu Qunyuan went to Tiananmen Square to validate Falun Dafa, and was detained in the Beihai Alliance Office in Beijing for seven days. She was then sent to the 1st Detention Center of Beihai City and detained for 42 days. On July 5 of the same year, Ms. Xu went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa, and was arrested and sentenced to a labor camp for two years.

On October 26, 2002, police from Dijiao Police Station and Dijiao Armed Police arrested Xu Qunyuan in Hechi City and brought her to a drug rehabilitation center, where she was detained in isolation for 22 days.

On October 7, 2003, during the Festival of Chongyang, Xu Qunyuan was taken away again, this time to the Police Branch Station of Haicheng District and illegally detained for three days. At two o'clock in the morning, the police searched her house, and confiscated her exercise music tapes, Dafa books and other Dafa materials. Ms. Xu was taken to the 2nd Detention Center of Beihai City to suffer 15 days of detention. During that period of time, the city's 610 Office, police station, Political and Judicial Committee of the Haicheng District, police branch stations, national guards of Haicheng District, and the police station of Dijiao Town extorted a "confession" from her through an extended period of torture. After being released from detention, Ms. Xu was taken away the next morning by guards from the 610 Office of Beihai City, and brought to that office for another round of interrogation and torture. She was not released until after 6:00 p.m. that evening

On February 25, 2004, Xu Qunyuan was arrested after 10:00 p.m. at home and brought to the Dijiao Town government offices for one month of illegal detention. Due to her family members' strong reaction, righteous support from a range of people, and Xu Qunyuan's protest by hunger strike, the police had to release her before her sentence was fully completed.

On October 17, 2005, when Xu Qunyuan was selling Chinese snacks at a market in Dijiao City, she was arrested by the director of Dijiao Police Station and a group of police. They searched her house, confiscated her exercise audio tapes, MP3 player, and Dafa materials. She was then taken to the Dijiao Police Station and detained for 12 hours before she was released.

Over the past seven years, Ms. Xu Qunyuan often suffered harassment, illegal arrest and unlawful detention at the hands of persons from the City Police Department, 610 Office, the Political and Judicial Committee of Haicheng District, the Police Substation of the Haicheng District, Dijiao Agency, the Police Station of Dijiao District, and the Neighborhood Association of Zhongliao in Dijiao.
