My Understanding of Hand-copying Teacher's New Lectures

Sept. 30, 2006 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Clearwisdom.net) I had an unexpected opportunity to share experiences with a fellow practitioner. I found that her understanding on the Fa was comparatively better than mine. In my conversation with her, she said that every time Teacher's new lectures come out, she would always hand-copy the Fa at least three times.

What she said reminded me of a time when I hand-copied one of Teacher's lectures a while ago -- "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 International Fa Conference in New York." At that time, I felt that the result was quite good but because I was busy, I did not keep my commitment of studying the Fa in this way. In sharing with this practitioner, I was awakened to the fact that the reason why this fellow practitioner understood Teacher's Fa so well and remembered the Fa so solidly had a lot to do with her hand-copying the Fa. Every time Teacher's new lectures came out, whether long or short, she would hand-copy the Fa at least three times. This kind of sustaining spirit should certainly deserve our admiration.

Inspired by this fellow practitioner, I returned home and started hand-copying Teacher's most recently published lecture, "Teaching the Fa in Canada, 2006." I hand-copied the lecture three times. After completion, I felt wonderful, my eyes sparkled and my heart brightened; Teacher's Fa was deeply imprinted in my brain. This was Fa study, melting into the Fa and entering into the Fa. Now I have already thrice hand-copied two more new lectures, "Teaching the Fa at the Fa Conference at the U.S. Capital" and "Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles."

In the process of hand-copying, I have come to understand the Fa more deeply and have come closer to the deeper meaning of the Fa. Through hand-copying the Fa I began to realize more about how precious the Fa is and how great a responsibility we carry in our historic mission.

The vast and mighty push of Fa-rectification has entered its final stage, piercing closer to the surface. The Fa requires from every one of us practitioners a greater and higher effort. Therefore we need to have a clearer understanding of the Fa. In order to guarantee that we push forward towards higher levels without any deviation, we need to study the Fa more thoroughly, and truly quiet our minds and melt ourselves into Fa study so as to enable us to walk every step with safe and steady footing. Although we have limited time to study, we must squeeze our time, value our time, and make good use of our time to study well, and to even memorize the Fa.

Basically speaking, Dafa practitioners' cultivation is different from any other cultivation practice, because we are related to the Fa-rectification, responsible for a great historic mission while the new universe is replacing the old one, training and preparing ourselves to be future kings or masters of numerous great kingdoms. In view of this, only when we study the Fa well can we follow the momentum of Fa-rectification, raising our levels as a whole body. Through hand-copying Fa lectures, I came to better understand our cultivation way: "The Great Way is invisible but united as one body." This is our cultivation way that enables us to exist in human society, allowing us the opportunity of saving people, enabling us to save more sentient beings, to better achieve our historic mission, and to fulfill our great prehistoric vows: "You resolved to save sentient beings, and assist Master as he journeys this human world;..." ("Assisting the Fa" from Hong Yin)

Today I am writing my understanding about hand-copying Teacher's new lectures in the hopes that fellow practitioners can continue to help one another by exchanging ideas and discovering our differences and shortcomings. In this way, we can safely pass through every occurrence, every trial and tribulation at this final stage, truly achieving the standard of Dafa and not disappoint our great Teacher who has been saving sentient beings with great compassion.
