Hong Kong Practitioners Admonish Singapore Authorities to Cherish Themselves by Treating Falun Gong Fairly (Photos)

Jan. 24, 2007

(Clearwisdom.net) On January 22, 2007, a Singapore court opened a hearing in the case involving six local Falun Gong practitioners who have been falsely charged by the Singapore government with holding an "assembly without permit." On that day Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners marched to the Consulate-General of Singapore in Hong Kong to deliver a protest letter. They urged the Singapore authorities to not act as an accomplice of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and immediately stop the persecution of Falun Gong.

At 2:30 p.m., practitioners gathered in Charter Garden and marched to the Singapore Consulate General to deliver the letter. They strongly protested the Singapore government charging six local Falun Gong practitioners with holding an "assembly without permit" for distributing fliers to support withdrawals from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

Practitioners read a statement in front of the Singapore Consulate General. They condemned some individuals in the Singapore government who are sacrificing morality and justice out of self-interest, and who have repeatedly abused their authority to persecute Falun Gong practitioners to appease the CCP.

They pointed out that the trial is an example of some individuals in the Singapore authorities appeasing the CCP. The incident took place two years ago on October 23, 2005, but the authorities forced the charge of "assembly without permit" on the practitioners and charged them in court nine months after the incident occurred and when Li Lanqing was visiting Singapore. Li Lanqing was the former Chinese Vice Premier and head of the 610 Office, which was established to persecute Falun Gong.

Lu Jie, one of the practitioners, said, "Facing the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the CCP, the Singapore government is helping the CCP to do evil deeds by persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in Singapore. This is a disgrace. We admonish the Singapore government to immediately stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners."

Starting from that day, Hong Kong practitioners will do sit-in protests outside the Consulate General of Singapore five days a week, and extend the length from three hours a day to nine hours in the daytime and five hours at night. As news came out that a Singapore court illegally sentenced six accused practitioners to two days in prison for protesting the court’s secret trial, more Falun Gong practitioners planned to protest outside the Consulate General of Singapore.
