Grasp Each Opportunity to Clarify the Truth

Jan. 3, 2007 |   By a practitioner from Taiwan

(Clearwisdom.net) In Taiwan, the law stipulates that adult males have to do military service, which lasts about one year and four months. It has been three months since I my enlistment in the armed forces, and I have some experiences that I would like to share with everyone.

I am now permitted to take two days off a week, so I stay at home on Saturday and Sunday. From Monday to Friday I stay in the military camp. How am I able to clarify the truth better? Before I joined the military service, I always helped with repairing computers, installing software for clarifying the truth, and simply teaching others how to use the computer. Now that I have to stay at the military camp, I do not have such an environment any more. I also cannot use my cellphone to clarify the truth. However, I believe that Dafa is capable of everything. No matter where we are, we will for sure be able to cultivate and for sure we will be able to do the three things well enough.

Eventually I thought of a way to clarify the truth to my fellow countrymen in the military camp. When I talk to individuals in the military camp, there is a very special opportunity where I can talk to many people about the truth of Dafa at the same time. Every Thursday morning at the military camp, we have the chance to watch educational programming on TV. Afterwards, the senior officer asks us to go up to the podium to present our speeches. I made use of this opportunity to clarify the truth to them. The main subject one particular day was about how the Chinese Communist Party has infiltrated into Taiwan and their soft war strategy. After watching the program, I went up to the podium to share my understanding.

I said something to the effect of, "Just now we watched a program about infiltration by the Chinese Communist Party, and many people might not have been interested in the topic. I believe that the public--and our brothers in the military camps--do not have a full understanding of the nature of the Chinese Communist Party. The main reason is because many Chinese Communist-related organizations are involved in funding the mainstream media in Taiwan. As a result, these media focus on reporting the good news [from China] but not the bad. They also to do 'a little condemnation to help a lot.' Regarding the nature of the Chinese Communist Party, I want to share with you a personal experience. While I was attending National Chiao Tung University, I was in charge of the Falun Dafa Association. I put my cellphone number on the Internet in the contact information, in case anyone who was interested wanted to make inquiries. Ever since then, every two or three months, I get messages from Chinese Communist spies harassing me. The contents of the messages are always lies that defame Dafa or attempt to convince me that Falun Gong is so terrible, etc. I did not expect this nor can I understand why the Communist regime would do something so obscene to an innocent student in charge of an association in a university in Taiwan.

"When I told my friends about this, they all thought that it was very odd. This was something that could only have been done by the Chinese Communist Party, and only the Chinese Communist Party would do such a thing. In order to know what is happening every day in China, it is not enough for us to just read the mainstream media reports in Taiwan. I suggest that people learn more from the other media, such as the Voice of America, Free Asia, AFP, Central News Agency, and The Epoch Times. In this way, we can better understand the truth that the Chinese Communist Party tries to cover up, including hundreds of riots happening every day in China. Also there is a book called the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party that clearly analyzes the nature of the Chinese Communist Party. As the Chinese saying goes, 'If one knows one's opponent as well as oneself, one will never lose a battle.' So everyone should go and read this book."

After I finished my speech, everyone applauded warmly. Someone even came to tell me in private later that I had made a good speech. Also, at the same time, over one hundred of my fellow countrymen and senior officers heard that I am a Falun Gong practitioner. Many people came to ask me questions related to Falun Gong in private. There was a very positive outcome from sharing my understandings.

My understanding is that we should be sensitive to ordinary people's tastes and follow their ways to clarify the truth. What we say should be related to their interests. Otherwise they will think that we were simply promoting Falun Gong. So we should pay attention to the focus of the educational TV programs to find ways to touch upon the truth. It is helpful to take notes so that we won't feel nervous and forget anything that we want to say. I still have some parts that I need to improve on. For example, several minutes before I went up onto the platform, I kept thinking about how I could deliver my speech in a better way. However, I did not think immediately of sending forth righteous thoughts, and I forgot to ask Master to strengthen me. I also forgot that our genuine purpose and our real responsibility is to save the sentient beings.

I want to share the above with everyone. If there is anything improper, fellow practitioners please rectify it with compassion.
