(Clearwisdom.net) Since 2002, officials in Hongweixing Prison have detained and brutally persecuted many Falun Gong practitioners.

In September 2002, Mr. Zhu Hongbing, an employee from the Daqing No. 7 Oil Extraction Factory, arrived at the prison. Guards beat him so severely that he was hospitalized. After six months, he still had a tube inserted into his body for discharging body fluids. He was once in a coma for 24 days.

In December 2002, Mr. Zhang Xingye and Mr. Li Hai were detained in the No. 6 Ward. The guards beat them ruthlessly because the two refused to wear a prison uniform and continued to practice the Falun Gong exercises. They also refused to allow the practitioners to sleep. Mr. Zhang was exposed to the cold near an open window where harsh winds blew in and a temperature of -20 ⁰C (-4 ⁰F) was registered for three days and nights. Mr. Zhang went into a coma.

Wang Mingkui was arrested from his home in 2002 and was eventually sentenced to four years in prison. He and another practitioner explained the facts about Falun Gong to prison head Liu. Liu was furious and beat the two practitioners ruthlessly several times. Mr. Wang was hurt and in critical condition. The guards locked Wang Mingkui in a solitary confinement cell for over 20 days, beginning on June 12, 2002.

Li Ha was from the 64^th Middle School in Daqing City. He decided to go into exile in May of 2001 but was arrested in April 2002. His captors claimed that Mr. Li Hai had made equipment to tap into cable TV. He was illegally sentenced to 12 years in prison under trumped-up charges. He is still in that prison.

Mr. Yu Yongquan, 45 years old and a college graduate, worked at the Daqing City No. 2 Rice Mill. At around 1:00 p.m. on March 8, 2003, he died as a result of persecution in Hongweixing Prison.

Mr. Xu Jishan drowned. Five criminal inmates were responsible for this murder, which they committed under orders from the guards at Hongweixing Prison.

Wang Hongde, 56 years old, was an employee of the Xinhua Power Plant in the Datong District, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. He was incarcerated in the prison in 2002 and suffered a heart attack. The prison did not allow medical parole until Mr. Wang's hands and feet had turned blue and he was at the brink of death on April 30, 2005. He died two weeks later.

Zhang Zhong, 35 years old, lived in Hongguang Village, Taiping Town, Bayan County, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. He was an employee of the Lamadian Chemical Company in Daqing City. He died on October 16, 2006 in the Harbin City Police Hospital.

Li Lizhuang, 33 years old, was a doctor at Harbin Medical University and was transferred to the Daqing Prison in 2003. He was brutally tortured. Approximately ten criminal inmates participated in torturing him each time. His clothes were removed and he was put into a waist high bath barrel. The barrel was filled with cold water. The inmates then poured cold water on his head and body. They also scraped his ribs with hard material, gagged him with dirty rags, and pulled and squeezed his testicles, which still pain him today. After half an hour, when he had almost passed out from the freezing water, they pulled him out of barrel, and two inmates carried him naked to a hallway, in front of all the other inmates. They wrote humiliating words on his body. When they noticed he had recovered a little, they threw him back into the cold water and repeated the process. They did this several times. They also inserted a toothbrush and a thick plastic hose with running water into his anus. On February 4, 2004, his teeth were loosened, and he sustained a broken rib (confirmed by x-ray taken in the prison hospital) from a beating. Nine criminal inmates participated in repeated beatings that day. Even today, his vision is still impaired.

Zhai Zhibin, 29 years old, was a former employee of the Daqing Construction Development Company. He was not allowed to sleep for several days in October 2003. While inmates monitored him, he had to stand at night and sit during the day. When people from the Prison Management Bureau came to have conversations with practitioners, Chu Zhongxin, deputy head of the No. 4 Ward, coerced inmates to watch Mr. Zhai Zhibin closely. The inmates stripped off his clothes, tied him to a bench, poured cold water on him, and beat him with a wooden board. At another time, guards did not like Zhai Zhibin's answers on a test. So the guards instigated four inmates including Su Chengtao to beat him brutally. Blood covered his whole body and he could not get up. His face was so swollen that his friends could not even recognize him.

Zhou Shuhai graduated from Sichuan University and was formerly a researcher at Yichun City Government Policy Research Center. He died as a result of the persecution on May 31, 2007.

The Daqing Hongweixing Prison has detained Falun Gong practitioners from over 50 provinces and regions from around the nation. Last week, practitioners in the No. 4 detention area were savagely abused for refusing to wear the prison uniforms and doing specific exercises that the guards had required.
