Editors' note: In both Western and Chinese cultures, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward acts that are in harmony with this principle, while doing things such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.

Deputy Leader Li Guo of Balingzuoqi of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Province dies

During his time serving as the political and justice director and deputy leader of Balingzuoqi in Chifeng City, Li Guo participated in the suppression of Falun Gong. He persecuted practitioners, which resulted in a dozen or so of them being sentenced to forced labor, jailed, fined, and/or having their homes ransacked. Over 20 practitioners were interrogated, and/or had their wages withheld or their service seniority reduced. Practitioners told Li the facts about Falun Gong and wrote to him, but he continued with what he was doing. Li recently suffered a stroke and died on November 17, 2007.

Former Police Chief Hao Pei of Guan County, Shandong Province suffers from a malignant growth in the throat

Hao Pei served as the police chief of Guan County from 1998 through 2005. Since July 20, 1999, when the Jiang Zemin regime began to persecute Falun Gong, Hao actively cooperated with the county director and other officials to lead a group of policemen to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Over the years the number of arrested practitioners reached a few thousand. Over 200 were sent to the forced labor camps, over a thousand sent to brainwashing centers, dozens had their wages withheld, and numerous families were torn apart. The police acted like bandits, breaking into practitioners' homes in the middle of the night and searching, fining, and arresting practitioners. Over the years the money that was extorted and confiscated reached into the millions. Eighteen practitioners were put on a wanted list, and some have been forced to stay away from their homes for seven years, causing great pain and sorrow to their families.

The former chief now suffers from a malignant growth in his throat.
