Russia: Promoting Falun Gong in the City of New Siberia

Feb. 24, 2007

(Clearwisdom.net) On the evening of February 10, 2007, four practitioners from Tomsk, Russia, drove to the nearby city of New Siberia to distribute material to local Chinese people.

In early 2007, the Russian government announced a series of measures including limiting foreign retailers in Russian markets. Beginning on April 1, 2007, foreign retailers will be completely banned from trading in Russia.

Many Chinese businessmen were forced into liquidation sales ahead of Chinese New Year. A lot of Chinese who looked after market stalls could potentially lose their jobs and their legal status. Some might never return to Russia.

With this in mind, practitioners in Tomsk wanted to deliver the latest edition of The Epoch Times into their hands before the Chinese went home for the New Year en mass. They would learn the latest news about quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated associations. These precious Chinese people were given yet another chance to learn the truth and to withdraw from the evil party.

This time the Chinese eagerly asked for the newspaper and further information. Perhaps their conscious sides knew that the chances of seeing this kind of material would be hard to come by in the future. The headline news was also close to home, "Russia Refused Chinatown, Impacting Millions of Chinese Businessmen." They were so eager to read the news that they took past issues as well.

Practitioners from Tomsk also met up with practitioners who recently moved to the vicinity of New Siberia. They shared experiences on how to better coordinate activities to promote Falun Gong and raise awareness about the persecution in the surrounding cities.
