Human Rights Defender Comments on the Eight-Year Protest of the Persecution

July 27, 2007

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong is a peaceful community of cultivators and many people practice Falun Gong. However, on July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute the practice. For eight years, people everywhere have been seeing the efforts of Falun Gong practitioners to end the persecution, in the form of parades and marches abroad, to flyers and banners in Mainland China. Falun Gong practitioners are clarifying the truth about the persecution. By and by, people are starting to know about Falun Gong and more and more people are supporting the practice.

According to a report on July 18, 2007 by the Sound of Hope radio station, human rights defender Mr. Fan Ziliang observed, "More and more people are admiring Falun Gong. More people are agreeing with Falun Gong as well. There are few who still have misunderstandings, and they are becoming even fewer. Among the world's people, both public and anonymous supporters are growing."

During the first period of the persecution, the CCP declared that it would get rid of Falun Gong within three months. Mr. Fan said, "Those who persecute Falun Gong are doing so in the dark. They sneak around. This is the kind of thing that can't be exposed to sunlight."

Eight years have passed. Mr. Fan has found that Falun Gong has grown even stronger. He sincerely praised the Falun Gong practitioners in China who continue to spread the truth about Falun Gong despite the danger.

Faced with the fact that Falun Gong cannot be eliminated, the CCP became even more vicious. Mr. Fan talked about how Ms. Wang Bo's family, who practiced Falun Gong in Shijiazhuang City, was forced to give up their faith. Even their relatives were involved and are mistreated.

Under such conditions, Falun Gong practitioners started to protest the persecution. For eight years, they have stood up and appealed for the right to practice Falun Gong. Mr. Fan Ziliang said that it was necessary.
