Ms. Wang Puhua from Chaoyang District Beijing Passed Away as a Result of Persecution

July 27, 2007

(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Wang Puhua from Chaoyang District in Beijing died as a result of persecution on June 13, 2007. A policeman surnamed Sun from the administrative section of the Beijing dispatch department for labor camp detainees went to harass Wang Puhua on a monthly basis before she passed away.

Wang Puhua was close to sixty years old. The 610 Office in Wangjing District, the Public Security Bureau in Chaoyang District and Nanhu Police Station conspired with each other, fabricated evidence against Wang Puhua and arrested her on February 22, 2006. They detained her at the Chaoyang District Detention Center. The perpetrators include Sun Yuliang from the 610 Office who specialized in persecuting Falun Gong and Director Du Shaofeng from Nanhu Police Station. Fifty days of abuse in the detention center caused Wang Puhua to develop swollen lymph nodes under her left armpit and vision loss in the right eye due to optic nerve necrosis. Even in this condition, she was sentenced to two years in a labor camp and sent to the Beijing Reform-through-Labor Dispatch Department.

Even though she had vision problems, she was still forced every day to watch a large- screen TV playing programs that slandered Falun Dafa. Since she was forbidden to close her eyes even for a few seconds while watching these programs, her left eye vision began to decline and she developed symptoms of glaucoma. She was also tortured with the "Sitting Board" for over 10 hours a day. (Every day, practitioners were forced to put their hands on their laps, with backs straight and sitting on small benches for long period of time).

After Wang Puhua's repeated requests, she was finally sent to Tongren Hospital Ophthalmology Department and diagnosed with glaucoma. Her optic nerve had already atrophied and it was too late for treatment. She also had pain all over her muscles and joints; even breathing was painful. Under these circumstances, her family requested her release every day. She was released on May 25, 2006 on medical parole. After four months of Fa-study and doing the exercises, she was no longer in pain.

On October 17, the police arrested her for the second time using the excuse that she "did not seek medical attention, did not report to authorities, and left Beijing without permission." There was no one at home except Wang Puhua. The police handcuffed her as soon as she opened the door. Four or five policemen picked her up. They did not let her take her coat, shoes or money and she was directly taken to solitary confinement. The weather was getting cold; Wang Puhua was only wearing a thin layer of clothes and had to sleep on a concrete bed without a bed cover. Her family had no idea where she was. She asked several times to call her family, but was refused.

Her health condition declined quickly. She again developed pain throughout her body and began to cough up blood. Under the request of the inmates who monitored her, Wang Puhua was taken to the hospital. The Tuanhe Hospital refused to take her, so she was taken to Tiantang Hospital inpatient unit. After many exams, the doctor diagnosed her with lymphoma. She was finally released on medical parole on November 24, 2006.

After Wang Puhua returned home, she could not take care of herself anymore. Staff from the Reform-through-Labor Dispatch Department constantly came to her home to harass her, ordered her family to report her condition to them by phone on a weekly basis, and whenever "sensitive days" approached they would make harassing phone calls.

Before she passed away, she had been constantly requesting release from the status of labor camp detainee unconditionally, but was refused each time.
